It does look cool as a build concept. This was already posted a few times but in the context of "what the heck is this?"

However this would be a great build project for someone to do.

A for effort. But if you look at the side view it doesn't look like it lines up to well. But that could be due to the body lines. but anything can be hidden from the photos, would be interesting to actually see it in person.

I just realized that it even has the flares and tailgate of the 3rd gen. I wonder how they did all that.

Maybe the Craigslist builder just invented the 3.5 gen concept truck...

That's not bad for 10k. Considering new flares, front end, rear end, new wheels, tailgate and steering wheel. I just hope non of the parts are stolen.

It's more than just the tailgate, it's the whole bed. (well sheetmetal parts anyway). He has also either used 3rd gen door-skins / doors, or heavily modified the 2nd gen doors.

Most of the parts should line up/bolt on pretty easily, since the structure of the truck didn't change between 2005 and 2017. There are a few brackets here and there that would be needed, but if you're already replacing pieces due to an accident or similar it should be pretty straightforward to use the newer parts instead of the older ones. The biggest issues I could see with doing the swap would be where the fender meets the A-pillar and the swapping the door/door skin to match with the newer front fenders. The rest of it is just getting the parts needed, nothing really custom. In fact, even the A-pillars could be swapped from a newer truck if you were so inclined. The doors are the biggest issue because there are no regular cab doors for the 2016-2017, but again since the doors are the same shape, you could do a bit of custom work to get the newer door skin onto the older door shell I would think.

The body lines are in the same spot on the 2005-2017, so it should line up pretty well.

My guess is that he likely used the door skin from a 2016-2017 on the earlier door shell, it would be (I think) the easiest way to do it.

    Looks cool.

You would figure that would be a lot of work. Looks like they did a good job.

IMO they should have bolted a 2nd gen front on a third gen though :D:crapstorm:

It has the 4.0L and transmission so it drives like the 3rd gen SHOULD have.

No, that is the standard front bench seat used in the regular cab.

Lol I was surprised that was even asked. Toyota cuts the reg cab out of the lineup and people already forgot what a bench seat is.

Shows what I know, I had no clue they axed the regular cab. That makes the work on the doors much more impressive. I wish there was a build thread for this Frankenstein.
