    For those that haven't followed in my build thread, there was discussion about me working with Ron Davis Radiators.

    Shout out to @Boring for researching and concluding that the 2TR also uses the same radiator.

    Also to @MrCrowntown for relentlessly affirming that it would fit the 2TR.

    Long story shortened, I sent them in an OEM radiator. Consulting back and forth, they have the finalized the design, and are ready to go into production.

    Basically every 1GR V6 Tacoma, from 2005-2015, can use this Ron Davis radiator. As well some or all 2TR Tacomas.* (Will be verified upon completion.)

    Within the next two to three weeks, estimated, I should have it in hand. Pictures will follow!

    This isn't about me. It's about you all.

    Summer temperatures looming, the cooling systems will be taxed. Some regions obviously more than others.

    Any one that off-roads, tows, drives in major traffic, has fun with their vehicles in the dunes or on the track, will benefit.

    For me, my engine naturally runs a few degrees hotter due to the sleeves. Add a turbo and track days, and it will really be taxed in the summer. Heat kills. This will be the best way to abate it.

    Plus the design uses dual SPAL fans. :woot:

    SPAL fans FTW.... just put one on my dirtbike n damn its a good unit.

    That stated. Been in 115* ambients blasting through the dunes in the middle of the desert mid august and never saw water temps more than a few deg above normal with a fully stock system.... and that was with AC on full blast.

    Do you have a scan gauge or Ultragauge?

    Curious what your coolant temps were?

    Any time mine get over 200*, I get anxious.

    Also do, you have the OEM t-stat, or a cooler one?

    Can it be used without the electric fan option? I will never use(retro)electric fans again. Very bad experience.

    Living in the hottest state and top 5 hottest cities I'm always interested in upgrading the cooling system. If you can make my AC blow snowcones I'd be even more interested. :yes:

    It will fit the stock fan shroud, but be advised that the thickness of the radiator will create more drag and that may overwork your stock fan clutch and drop your CFMs!

    Considering that the dual SPAL fans will lull more CFM than the oem fan can ever dream of, yes it will pull more air across your condensor. Increasing its thermal transfer. Dissipating the heat more quickly. So it should make your A/C a little cooler. Don't know about filling up that cone with shavings though. Lol.

    Ron Davis is based in AZ. They know allllllll about the heat, and thus why they engineer their radiators with SPAL fans. One of the best on the market, and used on all variety of racecars. Including some OEM applications.

    They would keep my coolant temps in the 170's during the heat of summer. Whether cooking in traffic, or at the track. In conjunction with the 170º t-stat. Far from the 200's.

    But. I digress. At the end of the day, it is your choice. The shroud which the SPAL fans bolt to, should be able to be removed. Or call and order it without that all together, and same you a little extra monies.

    Honestly, I cannot. I do not know.

    www.rondavisradiators.com. They have some other OEM replacements. Should give a ballpark figure.
