that would be nice, so the bracket would use the taillight mounting? kind of like an antenna mount

That's what I was thinking buy antenna mounts can get pricey

 

You can't really tell in the pic, but the tailgate would hit it on the otherside.

Should be an easy mount to make. Couple minutes with the angle grinder and the welder.

What gears should I get? I'm ready to order this week. I know Dom is going to say 4:56, but he's manual. What gears did @Sholden223 get? @Rattletrap66 , make my decision! Haha.

 

@Sholden223 went with 4.56 with an auto and I know @xweslingx has the same

General consensus on here is 4.56 for auto and 4.88 for manual

I think that's bass ackwards. The manual has lower gears in the transmission than the auto does. So it doesn't need as low of gears in the differential to achieve the same final ratio.

 

4.88 and 4.56 ratios are so damn close it's really not that big of a difference

 

But the torque converter in an auto on average gives you around 2:1 of extra gearing

 

This would just be on initial takeoff correct? You lose that benefit once you're cruising down the highway.

 

Correct to an extent. You lose the gear reduction at or near the stall phase of the torque converter. No idea what the stall speed is on a factory converter so you could be below, near, or above that stall speed at any given vehicle speed, dependent on RPM's.

 

I say 4:88, youre spending all that money, i look at it as getting your moneys worth, and if you ever pull a trailer you have a little more power going down the road
