It is well worth it. Almost like another truck. Much more torque and pulls my camper much better.

This is going to be a long one - my apologies in advance.

My 2010, as of November 2016, had the whole exhaust re-worked - since i had just received the Toyota Cat/Mid-pipe campaign replacement - i took it from the Toyota dealer straight on over to an exhaust shop, with the LCE 'street performance' header and a Magnaflow (P/N 12586, 5" X 11" oval, 22 inch long body, 2.5" muffler for anyone interested) muffler in the back of the truck, ready for an exhaust re-jig and upgrade.

I had two primary reasons why i went with an LCT header/Magnaflow muffler combination:

    1. Gearing/Torque curve characteristics - My truck as it sits now, with mildly up-sized tires from OEM, is final-drive geared relatively tall. I could approach the needed fix from 1 of 2 angles - bite the very expensive bullet now, and have a complete third member replacement to correct the gearing, OR go with the cheaper route of playing with the exhaust setup, in order to shift the effective Torque curve down to lower RPM's, to partially compensate for the overly tall gearing when pulling away from a stop, where it's in the "lag-zone".

Plan worked - I don't need to do a re-gear like i had been considering. Not, unless i really, really want to.

    2. I'm a motorcyclist - I also like to hear the engine work, or sing, as the case may be. However, there is a balance between increased sound for performance benefit, and just being plain obnoxious. I didn't want obnoxious.

Flowmaster 40's and 44's seem to be one of the more commonly used cans, with exhaust system upgrades. Based on Tooter's (guy here on the forum, who did a LOT of exhaust setup testing and posted the results) research, as well as others, I chose NOT to go that route. I went with the theory that volumetric capacity of a canister, is important to moderating dB output. More internal volume, with more baffles, means more sound dampening going on.

I did NOT want rice - and when hearing the 40's and 44's - no offense intended, but that is what i hear - rice. Between the LCT header and the exhaust changes done to the truck, it's quiet when it needs to be, but makes it's presence be known when you put the hammer down.

I don't see anything beyond 120km/h .. so up to and including 120km/h, it's quiet enough that the radio doesn't need to be jacked to 8 to hear it.

A small video i did a few months ago. Video/visuals is shiite .. but the sound is quite accurate. FWIW. The whistling/wind-rush you hear towards the tail-end of the video is the noise from my Prinsu rack - and it's really more of an audible in-cabin annoyance at that speed, than the exhaust/LCE header combo is.

FWIW .. sound and performance characteristics are a very subjective, and preferential thing, going from person to person.

OK, you guys convinced me -- my next major upgrade will be an LCE header.

So after the install I ran a full tank of gas and after 380miles it took 18.3 gallons for an average of over 20mpg. This is the best tank so far since I got the truck and I think it is a result of the header. The motor running more efficiently. I usually get around 18 been as low as 15. I did do a bit more highway driving on this tank but not too much more. I dont care too much about gas mileage but happy with the measurable improvement with the header.

If anyone is on the fence, and I apologize for being last minute with the notice, they're doing a one day 10% off sale for today until 11:59 PM Arizona time. I just ordered one for my 2016.

Installed a LCE header on my 2011 single cab 4x4 over the weekend. Install went pretty smooth. The truck has 87000 miles on it and lives in Wisconsin so some of the nuts were challenging. The worst two were on the fire wall end of the heat shield and not shown on the video. Pretty happy with the results. Able to run some hills in cruise that I would normally have to turn it off or the truck would downshift into 2nd at 70mph. Sad to have missed the sale though.

just ran my second tank of gas after install. This tank I drove it a little harder. Full throttle, running in 3rd on the highway , trying to speed up on hills . got up to 80mph a few times. Still got 19mpg. A definite improvement.

question for you guys with the lce and a 5 speed.. how do the trucks do on the highway in 5th? I am looking at leasing a 2017 access cab, 4x4, 5 speed. I have test driven the truck twice, thought it was nice, but needed a tad more powe to hold 70 in 5th on some hills. Im hoping the lce would be the ticket!

Has anyone put the header on a 2017? I talked to LCE today and they said they couldn't guarantee fitment on the 2017 models yet.

Mine is not a 2017 - but a 2010. It's about as heavy as 2017 at this point.

As you keep it in the effective rev-range - it'll generate the necessary power to keep up with traffic. If I need to giddy up and go.. 4th gear is still my go-to gear. 5th gear is an effective overdrive at 0.81:1 - so it's not an acceleration gear, with or without the LCE header.

I pretty certain it will fit. TW members have been installing them on the '16 and the '17 is the same truck.

I thought that too. The tech guy at LCE advised me not to buy it yet cause they weren't thru with fitment test. They are in the business to sell stuff, but when they say wait something may be different??

There were fitting issues with the LCE header for the 2rz motor variations.. On later 2nd gens there were interference fitting issues where Toyota changed a block casting, or something along those lines.

They must not have tried it on a '17 yet and are being cautious. Wait to hear from them but I won't worry about a fitment issue.

One more question for you guys.. Can the oem heatshield be re installed over the lce header? The truck will be leased, so I'm trying to stay under the radar
