Inferno Thread

yeah no such luck for me, I live on the wet coast of Canadia

 

This was my 2012 car I bought for my big 50 birthday. It was a nice car but I seriously wanted it for the color. I didn't keep it because really needed a work vehicle. So I have a practical Ford Transit but I'm ready for an Inferno Tacoma!

That's what I like about the inferno color..it's not bright ass pumpkin orange 24/7. More red with orange flakes.

 

Those look great! Thinking on getting some for my truck... might help prevent some door dings also!

 

Sometimes Inferno paint looks "coppery orange." It definantly has some sort of "metallic fleck."

 

Took the plunge and put a deposit on a 2017 DCSB OR in Inferno last week after my Jeep died on the side of the road with 80k miles on her, typical Jeep quality. I'm sick of getting grief from all my friends with Tacos, and lurking on this thread quickly convinced me Inferno is the only colour, so here we go.

Dealer says the truck will be here in mid-May, I'm already out of my mind with anticipation. Thanks y'all for convincing me to pull the trigger!

 

It's gonna be worth the wait...trust me.

Feel free to list the issues with your Jeep because, at least to me, it's interesting to know what the main problems are of the cars out there. Plus it can be kind of like therapy to have a list of grievances of a former car.

What bugs me is when companies know of common recurring problems but don't do anything to fix or "engineer out" the problems.

 

Bah, it was a long list of things, compounded by poor customer service at the dealer level. I'd owned the Jeep since almost brand new, kept it well maintained and still put about $10k into keeping the Jeep on the road over the last year, and I'm not an especially crazy driver or off-roader or anything. It just got to the point where I didn't feel confident it would get me home if I took it into the mountains, and that didn't seem right for a vehicle with 80k miles.

One of the known issues with Wranglers is that the transmission overheats when off-roading, and in mine, all I had to do was take it uphill on a forestry road to get smoke under the hood. MOPAR makes a transmission oil cooler to fix it, which cost a couple hundred bucks and another three hundred or so in labor (at least at the particular dealer I went to), and while they were installing it they managed to mess up my sway bar actuator to the point that it shorted out, killing my battery and stranding me in the middle of nowhere on a 600mile drive through the mountains.

The dealer's response was essentially that I could screw off and they weren't going to make it right, so I screwed right off to a Toyota dealership. In my experience, it takes a lot to kill a Toyota, and that's what I'm looking for in a truck.

 

dont mind the complaints in the forums. People complain about annoyances but there are only a few instances of the trucks actually breaking down. Ive only put 4500km on mine, but so far only complaint is my squeaky leaf springs on the driver side. drives perfectly

so far I haven't seen a double cab shortbox off road in Inferno. All Inferno's around here seem to be sports.

 

What bed rack are you running?

 

Just a general question. I see a lot more double cabs than access cabs. Are the bed sizes smaller in the double cabs than the access cabs? Or is the overall vehicle just longer to account for the larger cab and the bed sizes are the same? I don't want to lose bed length.

 

The double cab comes in short or long bed. Availability of a specific configuration varies by submodel (SR/5, TRD Sport/Offroad, Limited, Pro) and by country (US/Canada). The Access cab only comes with the long bed.

According to the Toyota brochure,
Access cabs is only on SR/SR5. And only with short box.

 

I almost forgot to post my newly lifted Tacoma. Did the lift myself at my shop Friday night. Full OME medium lift, with FX Pro wheels, and 285/70/17 falken at3.
