How Do You Park? (Self-Explanatory)

Coming out of TW.com retirement, so I thought this could generate some traction. Oldie, but a topic which has always intrigued me.

It depends for me. I like to park in the very back of a parking lot so that my truck doesn't get hit, since most folks want to get closer to where they are going. I never minded walking. If I'm in a place with lots of others and few parking spaces, I'll back in, but if the lot is wide open, not a whole lot of thru traffic, I don't mind just pulling in forwards. As long as there isn't a crap ton of people.

 

Always back in, got in the habit because it's usually mandatory in the oilfield where I work. Also always toward the back or end of the isle for me, rain or shine. Avoid door dings at all costs.

 

im the only person on my block that backs in to the driveway..ive recently made my wife do the same thing. im sure the neighbors are asking why. its more tactical incase zombies attack.

 

Curious to see if the results continue in favor of backing in. Strong two-year bump.

 

I voted "Pull In" , but almost always use "pull out" method!

 

Work made it a policy that we only back into spaces, citing that you have more spacial awareness of what is going on in the parking area when you pull in and statistically you are more likely to have a backing out accident than backing into a space. Annoying at first but it became habit. Now it is mandatory on a lot of big job sites.

 

Back in 99% of the time ... (unless angled parking making it dangerous).

 

I back in at home because it's easier to get out of my driveway driving straight out.

At work I try to back in between one car that's backed in and another that is pulled in so both passenger sides face my truck. That lessens the chance of door dings because most people drive to work alone.

 

I've backed in for many years.
The only time I pull head in is when at home depot or similar, where I need access to the bed

 

Always back in if possible unless spots are angled. I even back into my garage every day. Personally backing in makes it easier to get into tighter spots as well as an easier exit. Back in highschool my best friend and I parked our trucks backed into the same spots every day for 2 years straight. We were some of the first few to back into that parking lot and by the time we graduated all of the rows around us had converted to backing in.

 

I can only imagine how many insurance claims were involved in that learning curve.

Well there's an easy solution to that one... find an open pair of spots and pull through the first into the second, just don't pull all the way through... then no one pulls in behind your
