What's wrong to coming back to a rainy 45 nor'easter?

 

I waited in the sun for 4.5 hours and got his signature. Didn't get to actually meet him, he was going along the crowd signing as much as he could. Did get to get my pic taken with Josh herrin. We saw him when we were doing the track walk after the last race, he was so cool. I couldn't speak, obviously. I've been a fan of his since he was a teenager. We waited an hour to get maverick's autograph but missed it by 3 people. Got dovi's instead, he seems chill but not nearly as hot. The races were awesome, we had great seats, and my gp fans were all over downtown at night which was sweet

 

You're on the wrong side of the state! Try Route 2 following the Deerfield River up through Florida and Charlemont. It's a fantastic road. Very rural once you get west of Greenfield/Shelburne all the way until you go down into North Adams too, so not much traffic.

 

Once the little ones are a little older and I can bring them, I likely will do that. Now, the idea of trailering the bike to a dirt path isn't appealing. I used to just be able to leave my driveway and was instantly in great riding territory.

Since she's not locked up, I'm going to go with she didn't meet him. Haha.

 

Cool. As long as you had fun that's all that matters!

Haha last year they did tables and a line. This year they decided to do a crowd and first come first serve. I thought I was going to get trampled

 

If you get on Rt 2 way, way, way on the west side of the state, it's nice, like North Adams and west. Other than that, Rt 2 isn't overly exciting for a motorcycle in my opinion. I liked cruising through the Adirondacks on my bike. Lots of 55 MPH roads going through the mountains so tight corners, lots of hills and great scenery. And, you could go miles without even seeing another car.

 

Once you get out of Greenfield/Shelburne it's nice. North Adams/Williamstown is where it goes downhill again because it's populated. Best spots are Florida and Charlemont. I remember when I got on Rt 2 on the eastern side of the state for the first time. I was very confused because it looks absolutely nothing like the Route 2 that I know.

 

I just took Rt 2 from Greenfield heading east to 495 last week. The first 10 - 20 miles were nice, then it starts declining from there. The scenery is nice, but there are too many cars on the road for my liking. Now the 2 lane back road I took from VT 9 heading south down to Greenfield was absolutely awesome and I would have loved to have been on my bike for that part. My wife, who gets carsick relative easily, did not share my enthusiasm for the mountain road driving.

 

Mike @Pugga go RT2 to Ashburnham and go due north into NH. All the roads around there (SW NH) are awesome for bikes or sports cars!

 

Any of the "good roads" in new England that I've been on were good for a turn here or there but nothing like riding south of the mason Dixon

 

The problem with New England is that the good quiet mountain roads are all off of the beaten path so they only get paved once every 57 years.

 

Yeah I was gonna say If they were worth a damn they were covered in gravel or all beat up

The road I was on in VT heading south would have been a lot of fun on a bike and went for 10 miles or so. It was all really sharp cut backs, the issue was the speed limit was relatively slow. There are a lot of really fun roads in upstate NY, like real upstate NY through the Adirondacks that I used to ride regularly. I know what you mean about the southern roads but there are some of them up here also. Like Noel said, they are pretty far off the beaten path.

@mach1man001 I agree that there are good roads up there, but I have to drive an hour or more in traffic to get there.

 

Ah, I know what you're talking about--comes out of Whitingham. Used to have a friend who lived there so I've driven that a few times. Almost hit 3 deer on that road in one night when heading back from Logan in a snow storm at 3 AM.

The section of Route 2 I like is west of that. East of that is too much traffic. West follows the river through twists and turns up a mountain. No cell service or traffic.
