Hi everyone. I have a 2002 tacoma, 4 cyl 5 speed 4x4. I started noticing back in the winter, the truck was rough to shift every morning when its cold. After driving for about 10 minutes, it seems almost normal. Now that its warmer, it still does the exact same thing. Also, whenever i first start it up, it will NOT go into any gear. It just gets stuck in neutral. Normally i can force it into 3rd or 4th, just enough to move it a little. Once it rolls 4 or 5 feet, it will go into any gear. I replaced the gear oil with the correct oil, and it made no difference at all. The clutch is perfect, and ive also replaced the shifter bushing. I just cant figure this out.

Sounds like bad engagement. I would swap the clutch master and slave cylinders with OEM only parts. These are what usually cause bad engagement. Also a good bleeding of that system may help before swapping parts.

^^ This especially if you need to "coax" it once rolling into other gears.

    Otherwise syncros?

Could all the sychros go bad at once? Because it happened all at the same time. I forgot to mention that downshifting is much worse.

Re read post #3. Maybe a few times since you seem to be ignoring it?

    Then go fix the truck.

You know im just trying to see if anyone here has had the same problem. I read post 3, no need to be smart about it. Obviously you aint got no clue, so your post was pointless.

Actually I do have a clue. BTDT multiple times on my race car. So I would have written exactly the same thing, but @JayRolla beat me. And @Joe D followed it up.

You got good answers. I just figured you didn't read them or you would be on the way to having it fixed already.

My apologies. I'll refrain from further interference. :hattip:

Sounds like a good plan to start. I had one with an internal leak so showed no evidence fluid loss.
