Spacer lift kit

So I want to get a simple lift just on the front end so that its even with the rear. Not so much for perfomance, but rather for looks. I use my truck mainly to drive to school and work but occasionally I do go hunting and every now and then I will drive in in the sand, nothing too extreme but it does see some OR usage. My questions are: how many inches do I need to level it out? Will it mess up my suspension with the little use OR use I give it? Do I need a diff drop?

 

Just get the bilsteins that everyone uses. I'd go 2", but 1" may be enough. Def do not use diff drop, use the ecgs bushing.

 

I did two inch level to mine and I'm very happy. I don't think that the expense of coilovers is necessary for what you want.

 

When you say bilsteins what exactly do you mean? Bilstein coilover kit or bilstein spacers? Also what exactly is the ecgs bushing?

 

Was it just a 2in spacer lift? What else did you do?

 

Two things, first try searching and you will find the answer. Second, just measure. Each truck is slightly different. Where one person might need about an inch another might need almost 2. So if you measure your truck you will know what you need.

Finally, why go completely level? It is a truck, the second you put anything in the bed you will look overloaded and be slightly less safe when driving and have improperly aligned lights...

Needle bearing on driver side cv axle goes out on trucks with lift. Affects all generations of Tacoma. Any amount of Lift can cause it. Sometimes it fails on non lifted trucks.

It's $120 to 140 in Parts and 200 to 300 in Labor if you aren't comfortable pulling tie rods and cv axle and refilling the front differential fluid.

Some do 1" lift and it fails immediately some do 3 inches lift and it takes 5000miles to fail. When it fails You’ll get a fairly pronounced vibration at surface street speeds.

We'll, plates and breather etc. But as far as lift/level, just the two inch spacer. Gets some of the vulnerable bits up front a little higher and, frankly, I like the looks better. I am not an expert, but I feel like I didn't want what I considered "middle ground." I wasn't going to try to squeeze larger tires under my rig without going all-out to the tune of several thousand dollars, and I wasn't going to lift a little all around and leave the stock wheels and tires. I think coilovers seem expensive for what they accomplish by themselves. A little level leaves the suspension riding within factory specs, so the increased wear is nominal, and it doesn't cost a lot.

Wow, I never thought Toyota would allow for something like that to fail. These trucks tend to last ages. I guess something had to go wrong huh, lol.

Fail is a bit extreme. Poorly designed but technically functional. Will still allow axle to turn, will eventually wear axle and vibration will drive you insane before anything actually breaks. Think i made it a few thousand miles after lift before i couldnt handle it anymore
