has this ever happened to anyone?… My starter is going out on me, whenever I go to start my truck I hear nothing but clicking and after about five seconds of holding the ignition the engine will slowly start the crank... once the truck starts I usually let it warm up for about five minutes, well this morning after about five minutes I put it in drive and started to give it gas, well when I was giving it gas my truck was barely rolling, almost felt like that you break was on which it wasn't... after driving 2 to 4 mph down the road I finally pulled over to let the truck warm-up a little bit more… Put it back in drive and gave it gas and yet I have the same issue, finally I said screw it and just floored it and after about five seconds of the engine reving up and me barley moving, FINALLY it took off and the truck sped up.... Any suggestions?

Check the battery and battery connections. Sounds like a weak battery.

If that checks out and you still get the starter click-click then the starter needs new contacts. It's a common problem and easy to fix. Just search for: Toyota starter contacts.

might be the main wires are bad, use jumper cables from battery to engine block and try it, then try from battery to starter and try it, if its a bad wire you will find out which one

You are describing multiple issues IMHO.

Battery is the first thing to have load tested. And of course all it's connections. Your starter may be fine.

Is your trans full? Is the fluid red/pink and smell good? When was the trans last serviced? Miles on vehicle? The 'no go till hot' sounds like a transmission issue to me.

Thanks all for the replies. I checked the voltage of my battery and it's 12.51, checked the battery connections and they are a covered with a little corrosion.

Trucks has 225,000 miles... the tranny was rebuilt at 180,000. My buddy believes it's the starter contacts in which he has a kit to replace them so we are going to take it apart today and check.

This morning it took about 3 try's to start, once it started I gave it gas and it was barely going... after about 20 seconds of giving it slow but steady gas, it finally took off again, only happens in the mornings when cold... after that it only takes 1-2 times to start

That's not a load test, that's static voltage aka 'surface charge'.

If you don't want to take it to a parts house for a free test, at least use your DVM and watch what happens when someone tries to start the truck. It shouldn't drop below about 9.5v while cranking.

All I'm suggesting is to rule out the simple stuff before digging into the starter.

Regardless of what the repair is that fixes the cranking issue, I don't see how the acceleration issue is related.

If transmission related, it's important to address that quickly before further damage occurs.
