Thinking about trading my 2009 with 145000 miles, should I go for 017 or wait till 2018 ?

I'd wait till the '18 to see if there are any new features, then if not I'd try to get a better deal on a '17 that they're trying to get off the lot to make room for the 18's.

Sounds like that Safety Sense stuff will be added to the 18's, otherwise l doubt there will be any other noticeable changes.

Make sure whatever new ones you are interested in that you get some overnight test drives.

Mechanically speaking, and looks, it should be about the exact same vehicle.
There will most likely be a price increase, and they'll shift the options and maybe add a safety feature or two to justify the increase.
Whether the safety features are worth it is yet to be seen, I personally find air bags over-rated, expensive and dangerous as all the recent recalls shows, but wish I had the BSM system and may add aftermarket. But the good old cheap seat belts on the other hand, are a hit for me, I'd never leave home without them! lolo!

    Your call OPl!
    Cheers!

This is the added nanny feature that I'm hoping to avoid.

2018. Still a third gen, but more running change fixes will be applied.

Toyota dealers in my neck of the woods are having specials on on-lot trucks right now... might be a good time to wheel n deal! I'd test the waters with the meh... maybe wait for the 2018 model and test drive a few... see what the stealership wants to offer you on your used taco.... dip toes in sales water now.... won't hurt, buyers market... for now.

As has been mentioned safety sense seems to be a reasonable bet for 2018 Tacos. 17s became available end of summer beginning of fall last year so at this point I'd probably wait for an 18 if I were in the market. I was in the same boat last year and got a power rear window for the wait which I use quite a bit actually.

Yeah, I'm wondering if I'd use it more often too. Sometimes I park next to a second gen at work and look at my 16 next to his 2006, which has the exact same rear window and slider. Makes the 2016 look old, LOL..

That sounds like a good idea. Really like my 2016, but you probably have a few more good years out of your 2009.
As was said, you can always start "kicking tires", better when you don't have to make a move, more negotiating room.
    Good luck.

Just bought the 2018 Tacoma SR5 black with black and tan interior. I'm still breaking the truck in but I love it so far. Go for the 2018 I say.
