The needle on my tachometer seems to be sticking. After the truck revs up the needle comes down like its like it's sticking not smooth. Any one else experience this? The truck is a 4 cylinder manual.

I had this happen the other day. I was stuck in traffic on the interstate, and it was rather warm (80s), and it was a lot of stop and go. It hasnt done it since, but I have a video of it so that I can show it to the dealer when I go in.

    Im V6 Manual TRD Sport.

There have been a few guys on here that have had the cluster changed out due to the Tach or Speedo sticking.

Hard to replicate for dealer. Usually they don't fix Unless they can replicate. Recommend you shoot a video of it happening (safely) then provide evidence to service manager.

They had to replace my entire Instrument cluster to fix this

    No that's my 2015 SR5 V6. I traded it for a 2017 SR,4 cyl manual. Same color.

Mine is doing the same now. I'm just going to wait for the first maintenance at the dealership to fix it.

Just so you know, the dealer told me I had to leave my truck. When they order the part which is the whole instrument cluster the miles are set.So the truck can't be driven due to the mileage difference. He told me 1-3 days for the part to come in.

So where's the logic here? If they order it with say 10000 miles on the ODO, and when the part comes in a few days later you have 10200, they're saying they can't put the new ODO value in? In other words, they're saying they have to order it from another warehouse and that group sets the ODO before it ships?

Yes it's a legality issue. You can't fuck with mileage on an odometer. It needs to be precise.

The cluster they tell me is on backorder they've already had the truck for a week at the dealer I might tell him just cancel the order and I'll keep driving it and see if the problem goes away

I noticed my tach and speedometer needle moving in steps. So far only noticed it while decreasing RPM or Speed. Wasn't going to worry about it and let it ride. But today on the way home the tach stopped working the last 2 or three miles. Guess I'll be bringing it to the dealer and leaving it for a week or two. :annoyed:

For others that had the cluster replaced - is it still taking up to 2 weeks assuming the parts are not back ordered?

Update: This morning when I drove it was working. Guess it will only be a matter of time before it stops for good????
