Access cab storage bins

Lol im right there with you. I dont have kids or a family either so i didnt really need the double cab i bought(it was more of a want). I do like having the extra space though. I must admit the 5ft short bed is useless, but then again, i dont haul anything so its perfect for me.

 

Does it really happen?

 

On multiple occasions! I usually only ended up getting layed with one of them though.

 

It makes a good dog hauler, and can haul some small shit, and a load of firewood thats about it. I can also vouch and say that the backseat is worthless for certain activities if your over 6'2". Leg cramps up like a mf no matter which way you try to go at it.

 

Yeah to tell you the truth its a little more useful than my access cab bc that has a shell and platform on/in it so i dont ever want to make a mess of the bed area. I forgot how nice it is to be able to throw dirty shit in the back and not worry about it.

Lol its gotta be better than in the access cab.. im 6'1" and that shit was just about impossible..

 

Opening rear doors are the reason it's called "Access Cab" in Toyota branding lingo. Doorless extended cabs were called "Xtra Cab".

Fuck that, I'd rather freeze my ass off in the cold. Also on the whole bed cap deal, I really wanna get a soft-topper that way I can kind of have the best of both worlds, I can still sleep in the bed, but also throw shit in there when I need to.

 

BTW, in case y'all were wondering, Access Cab rear seats have the least legroom of any seat offered in any model in Toyota's lineup, Yaris included.

Im in the same boat right now on the softopper. Cant decide whether i want a fiberglass hightop shell or a softopper for my short bed. As it is right now, i dont ever take the cap off my long bed bc its too damn heavy. Its easily a 2-3 person job removing one. Im leaning more towards the khaki/tan softopper so i can take it on and off

Honestly, Toyota should have a storage option. Those back seats in the access cabs are about as useful as they are in my Porsche 964; Zero leg room and just get in the way of progress. The best mod I've done so far, was just removing that arm rest storage thing. Blocked anything I would try to put back there. After taking out the seats and rear panel, I can finally take my Doberman with me. Just gotta make it pretty now. The molle panel is really tempting me.

 

Hammock?

 

How did you attach the hammock to the back rest? I have a similar hammock but without head rests I can't find a way to secure it.

For most the time i had the straps around the back panel. This last time i washed it tho, i used the hook on the top passesnger side for 1 securing point.

Then i used (i dont ever intend on driving with passengers and even removed the seatbelts for maximum DOG comfort) velcro tape on the plastic portions of the back panel. It will come off eventually and clean up with some alcohol.
So far it is still up, and my dog goes everywhere with me. Theres little to no actual weight being supported by the velcro from what ive noticed. It keeps the whole lot from sliding across the cab when he jumps in tho.
