Helicopter Control Stick SHIFTER!!!

So this all started when I saw a meme on the Chive. I saw that and thought, "hey I'm a helicopter mechanic I wonder if we got an old control stick at the hanger". Looked around and sure enough boom found one. Not going to go into specifics but as a new serviceable part this handle would have cost +$5000cdn. So let's say I was happy it was cracked and unserviceable.
Had to figure a way to couple the stick to the handle so I got a piece of 1 1/4"x 3" aluminum and lathed it to fit the ID of the handle, then drilled the inside out to tap a 1/2" NF thread for the stick. As well I drilled what I'm pretty sure I remembered was a 3/4" drill for the lower portion of the coupler to accommodate the tapered shaft. Fits perfectly and handibility is way better then stock. Now the last thing to do is wire up one of the switches to a light bar. Only problem being is that I don't have a light bar and the switches are all single pole momentary's but I can but a relay in downstream for that. Thanks for looking

With some confuser chips and servos this is possible. Sounds half like you might have the skillset to do it.

Probably dido, maybe a simple wiring setup to accommodate aftermarket lighting would work but I'm not touching factory equipment

 

Mines in much rougher shape, but I've had this as my stick for a few years now! From a 206 jetranger. I have the ICS thumb hat, but we took all the internals out to put them in the joystick of the planes we operate. Wish mine was a little more complete...

I respect that, as you would know it's the damn switches that cost the most money especially the top hat! Surprisingly we used these 205 handles for our jetrangers in years past for some special operations with cameras or something I wasn't apart of. I'm just surprised my director of maintenance let me have it whole without stripping the switches so #blessed

These have the best switches though. Worth their weight in gold.
