Trust me without making me have to write a dissertation. Stay away from GM. It would be the biggest car buying mistake of your life. Our 2015 GM Yukon XL just got replaced in December with an upgraded 2016 Yukon XL free of charge from GM for so many issues until I'm just not going to get started but think virtually every component on the vehicle being crap. My dad's Sierra, same thing. Think eye candy but don't bite for GM products. If you are pleased with you Taco now, keep it. If you have to get rid of it then wait on the new Ranger but I'm a former loyal GM guy and I'll never own one again. Oh yeah, I just got my 16 Yukon out of the shop for a week's stay and it has to go back again for several days. The bottom line is anyone can make a single vehicle on any given day. My last four from GM have been awful. That's enough for me.

My last four since 09 have been three of the worst four cars I have ever owned. To each his own but I'm done with GM.

Our rear taillight assembly fell off our new and improved replacement Yukon when we opened our rear hatch. We are still waiting on parts three weeks later. Nice for a $70K vehicle.

My dad was a lifetime GM guy, his 90s silverado lasted under 100k, he got a suburban after that and literally everything the forums said would fail failed in that piece

He now has a sequoia and loves it, and he swears to never buy another GM product

I stayed tied up with their corporate office forever. You talk about well trained liars, these people make Toyota corporate look like sheep.

Smitty, in all fairness they made some decent fullsize trucks for a while around that timeframe. Just don't try one now.

People love to shit on GM here but it's a Toyota forum so go figure. The third gen has had plenty of its own issues too. My 2016 Tacoma has been to the dealer a dozen times in not even 2 years for shit breaking. Never had that problem with my Ford Ranger or GMC nor my 1st Gen Tacoma. I think mine has had some bad luck but look at all of the people posting here with issues. It's not like Toyota is some bulletproof brand now and GM is a total bag of shit. GM makes nice trucks and their quality is not as bad as it was 10, 15 to 20 years ago

Anyone can make a bad one but to me GM is now worse than they were 15 years ago. They make great looking vehicles that have great "specs" but they don't hold up over time. Our 01 Suburban was a great family vehicle but we have owned several since then and they were all awful. It does sound like you have had some crappy luck with your Taco.

Same here. Ford for fullsize. Never had an issue with any of mine. I wish the Tundra would actually come out with a real redesign. Doesn't matter for me, I'm a midsize truck guy all the way...:)

I have to disagree I hunt and run trials with guys who all drive full sized trucks cross country to tow dog trailers, travel trailers etc for bird dog competitions. Silverados, Dodge Rams, F150s. I think I'm the only one out of maybe 50 that actually drives a midsized truck because I don't travel like they do (most of them are retired age) These trucks have 100s of thousands of miles on them in some cases and I've never heard of such carnage or failure. My buddy has a 2003 Silverado actually with over 300k on it, he just replaced the motor. I think the only thing he ever had to replace was the water pump. Drive around in the country, you will see PLENTY of old domestic full sized trucks with 100s of thousands of miles on them still running.

You wouldn't believe how much shit I catch for driving my Tacoma that always spends time in the shop. These guys just crack up laughing. I have to work, commute in the city and I prefer the midsize truck for practicality reasons otherwise I'd be in a full size too.

One guy I do recall traded his newer F150 due to problems with the ecoboost motor. He did go to a Tundra.

Smitty, my 01 Suburban was a great vehicle. We only got rid of it because we were tired of the color. We drove it for 8 trouble free years. After that the ones we had were literally awful. Around the time you mentioned, they made trucks that would last. The interiors were obviously made by Rubbermaid but the trucks held up. Every single one I have had since has fallen apart inside of 45K miles.
