can I buy TRD OR shocks from 3rd Gen owners and put them on my 2nd gen OR.

Are they the same bilstein 4600s?

    depends on the model.

the 5100's are different in that they have different clip settings for different lift heights (as the stock coils of the 3rd gens are longer and provide lift already)

I'm just asking about the stock shocks on a 3rd Gen trd off road. If I was to buy someone's stock 3rd Gen stocks will they fit my 2nd gen ?

    Thanks

12v accessory plug right rear bed bin,1gallon air compressor setup in left rear bed bin, 3-window bed topper.
Yes but only the front complete coilovers will fit on 2nd gen AND gives you a natural 1" lift

Yeah I got a set with few miles for $200 off Craigslist. Fronts came assembled. Fit my 2010 base. I guess the coils made it sit higher. I didn't measure it but it didn't look like much.

How would you compare the ride to your stock suspension.

Def stiffer and good dampening. But it's an apples and oranges comparison. I was running base shocks (SR5 4x4) with 125k miles on them and swapped them for 2017 OR bilsteins with 2k miles. Sooooo

I think if you just want to get a fresh new set and stay near stock some 3rd gen takeoffs are a good option for you. Look for a set that has assembled fronts and you can find them with low miles. I'd seen a set with 500 miles on CL for $200 and I waited to see if I'd have time to swap them and missed out. In your case I would imagine it would be very similar to a stock replacement.

Only benefit I could see is if you had the 2+1 packs and went to the 3+1.

But, stock leafs on the tacos are trash either way lol.
