How to clean speedometer plastic case

i usually clean it with microfiber, but see scratches. Is there a proper way to clean it and if I could take out the scratches. Thank you in advance

Hand buffing it with plastic polisher would be worth a shot if you already have scratches. Does wonders in clearcoat on guitars...

Maybe get one of those compressed air cans that you use to clean out computer keyboards with.... Or an air compressor...

 

I use a Milwaukee mini leaf blower, plush microfiber, and Meguiars interior cleaner.
Blow most of it off with the blower, then I spray the cleaner on the microfiber; wipe, lift, turn the cloth; never wiping with the same area of cloth. Then buff with a dry plush microfiber.
I have zero scratches.

 

I've used Meguire's Plastx cleaner/polish before on Lexan polycarbonate motorcycle windshields before with great results, and it is the best out of the many other plastic scratch removers / polish that they sell.

I always have a bottle of it on hand as I have two street bikes that both have Lexan windshields, and after application of it, it seems to make dust not adhere to the surface as easily.

I would just suck the dust off with a vacuum and a soft bristle attachment. Then I would clean it with a very clean micro fiber towel with a mild cleaner with no Ammonia.

 

Baby fingers will scratch it.

 

this^^^ I've always put some kind of micro scratches in them
trying to clean em. If it's just dust and shit, a small can of compressed
air does a good job.

 

Mine is scratched to hell, and I am very gentle cleaning it with a microfiber. Doesn't matter, the plastic is so soft.
What I plan on doing is purchasing a brand new clear lens (~$20) and immediately wrapping it with a clear screen protector before installing.

It's expensive but its the best for soft plastic. Used it on all my motorcycle plastics and it works.

 

Before you posted up about putting a protective clear wrap on a new lens cover, I thought about having tear offs for the lens cover that would work just like tear off's used by motorcycle and car racers.

 

I thought about that too. But if the proper protective film is used.. you should be able to wipe it down a lot and not worry about any scratches. Tear offs would be a pain

 

is it easy to remove? This is the only idea that sounds like it will make a difference.

 

I was thinking that a lightly gray tinted protective film would look a lot better and not show scratches as easy, as long as it didn't make the gauges hard to see.
