    from that thread...

    Specs on the Rotors…

The braking surface of the Tundra rotor is much thicker than the stock rotor, but other than that they are identical in size and shape.

Stock Rotors are about 7/8” thick

Tundra Rotors are 1 3/32” thick... The overall diameter, bolt pattern, hub bore diameter, and bell section diameter are all the same…

Maybe I misunderstood. Do you have 16's or 15's?

The 13WL's are the 231mm caliper; the 199's are the 13WE's. While I have no experience with the 199's, from what I've read they aren't much different than the stock calipers (besides allowing for a wider rotor and slightly larger pads), and therefore wouldn't be worth the effort or money. Also, the 13WE's are recalled Tundra brakes; they were found to be insufficient and were then replaced with the 13WL's.

199's should fit most, if not all, 16" wheels. the 231's will fit some 16" wheels, depending on the type. If you have 15" wheels, neither of these will fit without you getting new wheels.

This is a confusing aspect to the swap, with info going both ways regarding the diameter. Some say (like that write-up) that they are the same diameter. But from my experience and others, it appears that they are larger in thickness and diameter. Not sure where the breakdown is on this discrepancy. I'm guessing they are not the 13WL rotors, but are the (recalled) smaller, Tacoma-sized 13WE's.

Here's a pic from another thread on TW that shows what the stock Tacoma rotors look like next to the proper Tundra 13WL's, which also mirrors my swap: thicker and larger in diameter.

Yup, I have 15" wheels, I was hoping because these are smaller 199 they would fit with a 15" rim

Depending on your wheels, they may work? I've never seen or heard of it working on a 15" wheel, so I doubt it will. The rotors will be similar, but I believe the 199mm caliper is larger than the stock Tacoma and may interfere with the 15" wheels.

Now I'm trying to decide between 15's or 17's because I want to run 33/12.5's and was going to get them in a 16, but 12.5 wide tires are super expensive on 16s, super cheap on 15s, and not too bad on 17s,so now that's my choice I have to decide

Never mind, just looked, and 15 are way cheaper, now the problem is finding a good looking alloy or aluminum wheel that's a 15

they were OK (not great mind you) for the original reg/ext cab Tundra but once the Sequoia started having issues they increased before the Double Cab Tundra was introduced.

sorry, my original post was for the 199mm Tundra brakes, which many on the 4Runner forum say are much improved over the Tacoma's thinner 199mm just due to the increased thickness for rotor and pad. but again the Tundras never had 15s so IDK.
