    Got my Kings back from Tim. :woot: Can't wait to get them back on. I was surprised at how anxious I felt while they were gone. :oops:

    I have a question about 1st gen IFS wheel travel. Without the shock in there, it looks to be about ~9" from full droop (no wheel mounted) to full stuff, all the way to the slightest compression of the bumpstops. Is this typical? How does this compare to a 2nd gen?

    It does not seem like my mid-travel Kings can take full advantage of all 9"s.

    Full disclosure, this is with Camburg UCA/1" uniball and OEM LCAs and ball joints. Also no anti-swaybar.

    I'd like to know as well, I know my icons take advantage of every last bit of down travel but the up travel is unknown to me.

    How is it on the highway with no sway bar? Curious about it for off roading but have read it can be sketchy at highway speeds

    I like it. But I do have 700# coils. Honestly, have never missed it.

    Its worth trying out on the highway to see if you can get used to it. Off road there is nothing to dislike about not having one.

    Instead of totally removing it, you can disconnect each end and rotate the bar so the ends point up. Zip tie them in that position and go do some slolom racing at 70 mph. :D

    Even with my last setup (Eibach poop coils and Blown billies) having no sway bar was a night and day difference, not as rough over bumps and the body roll was 100% manageable. Even evasive maneuvers were okay, just try them beforehand to make sure it works for you.

    Let's not forget that condoms have other purposes than modification of feel, the bar actually prevents body roll just like a condom prevents you from ending up with an 18 year burden. But I suppose the comparison is accurate in that neither are 100% effective

    Well, did you lever the arm down? i know the LCA bushings hold up the assembly a bit by themselves. So could be more.

    But 9'' sounds right. Though i think you're right that the shock won't allow it full travel still. Think you'd be lucky to see 9'' of wheel travel.

    Why Long travel is a thing. 14'' of travel. Amazing what a difference it can make to have just a few more inches of travel too. So much smoother.

    2nd gens are similar travel.


    also...tim? who rebuilt them??

    Igor hasn't had a sway bar since the kings went on. Very much worth taking it off.

    I did. It was at the bottom of the travel, I could not lever the arms down any further.

    It was interesting that the 2 sides are not identical. Surprise, surprise! The passenger side movement is about 1/2" higher than the driver side. There is also a slight difference in the amount of travel from side to side. The driver side is ~1/8" more.

    Are there any established numbers for extended travel King's OEM COs? I guess I'm asking how much of the 9"s are we able to use?

    should be able to tell from your extended/collapsed length measurement of the Kings.

    Id guess the kings aren't using the full travel though.

    Zane, thank you so much for your willingness to go to the junk yard and check up on things! They are going to ship it to me for 185 bucks so not a bad deal all in all. I'll sell the 4runner ECU i bought and basically make my money back.

    Yes i had to pry down the LCA mount a lot to fit my Kings. So much so i couldn't even get the Sway bar back on.

    I don't see the point of doing it the way you are saying. Have the tire on the assemble isn't "real world application" because in the real world the coilover is forcing the LCA down..so the tire is irrelevant.

    What would be a good measure is doing what mike did, measure the travel available without the shock. Then put the shock in. THAT is the max droop the coilover can do is when it is just sitting there installed with no weight on it. Measure that droop number and subtract from the number he got with no coilover.

    That'll tell him his travel.

    Yes. The LCAs are all original with 166K on them.

    The limiting factor right now may be the CV. :notsure:

    At full droop I could still rotate the axle but it had noticeably more rotational resistance (much harder to turn the hub by hand). I think of 'binding' as not being able to rotate it at all. If that is the definition, then it wasn't binding yet when sitting at the bottom of the travel.
