Bolt size for pre-threaded under-hood fender mount points?

I'd like to install an OBA (

$323 CKMA12 On-Board Air Compressor High Performance 12 Volt for Air Locker Differentials and Tire Inflation

CKMA12) under the hood on the passenger side close to the firewall. In my 3rd gen TRD OF (DCSB), I don't have any components there but I have two threaded holes in the fender side and 3 threaded holds below (straight down).

I have searched this forum for different build threads or install threads the might list the size of the bolts used to mount things into these points (maybe I suck at the TW search). I know there is a bracket I can buy that fits this area (single or twin compressor), but at $125, I'd prefer to see what I can fashion myself.

Several threads mention putting a rubber gasket or rubber feet between the compressor and the mount (which sounds like a good idea) and others mention fashioning their mount out of polycarbonate from Lowe's/Home Depot, but I didn't see anything about the hardware used to mount these home-grown brackets.

Thoughts? I'm heading out Sunday on a trip and I'll have the compressor tomorrow so I'd like to try and squeeze in the install on Friday/Saturday if I can figure this out fairly easily.

 

I know the two threaded bolt holes on the drivers side over the wheel well (right behind the battery ground) are M8-1.25 x 30. If those look close to the holes you are talking about then I bet they are the same size.

Sorry I didn't have pics to make it more clear but I'm traveling. I'll add pics when I get home in case others have a similar question.

 

They are not the same as the driver side. I believe they were M6 when i checked.

 

Confirmed.

M8 x 1.25 on driver side.

M6 x 1.0 on passenger

Yes, I tried the M8 on the passenger side when I got home and it didn't fit so I grabbed an old M6 x 1.0 to try and that 1.0 seemed incorrect. But it could have been paint or something in there. I definitely wasn't trying to force it since I didn't have that handy ring of thread sizes. Thanks to you all!

 

When I put the M8 on the driver side for a fuse panel one was fighting me too, it was just paint. Either clean it out with a tap if you have one or just run the bolt through slowly to do the dirty work.

Funny, after spending time looking in there today, I couldn't help wonder the same thing. On the passenger side down below those fender mount points, I have 3 threaded M8 bolts pointing up, two on the high side by the air filter mounts and another set an inch or so lower about 6 inches closer to the passenger firewall. A local fabricator is making me a mount for the

CKMA12 on those 3 posts instead for a more sturdy position (but its lower in the engine compartment... potential hot air being drawn into the compressor air intake).

I was wondering to myself what else would go there in another trim package that isn't in the TRD Off Road. A friend has a 2016 Limited so I was going to look in there next chance I get.

I believe so, not much as changed in the little details between generations.

 

In the non- OR/TRD PRO that is where the ABS/TC system lives..
