Water's still cold here. I was on a prospecting/scouting trip when I found a bunch of these Brookies stacked up. Caught some on egg patterns, small streamers and soft hackles.

The rivers around here are so great right now too. The stuff that was a trickle last year is now running like a really stream. It is great to see how healthy they are.

Nice fish. I can't wait to get up there and fish. I'm looking to plan a trip in 5-6 years when my boy is old/big enough to get out there with me.

Definitely make a trip up while you still can. It's getting crazy busy up here which I hate as a local, but there are still places to go with not a lot of people. If you can make it out to Western Alaska, I'd highly recommend it. It's not cheap, but it's beautiful and the fishing is amazing.

What weight leader and tipper for a 2-W rod/reel? I already have the line on the spool. Planning a bikepacking/fly fishing trip somewheres in Western CO. Not sure where yet. Trying to keep it <9000 ft.

There is no such thing as a weight for your leader/tippet. Get a 2WF fly line for your line if you haven't already bought it. You can probably get by with fishing 7x tippet since it's a 2# rod.

The same shit everyone else has.
Match your leader/tippet to the size of the flies you're using.

A good source of fly fishing help can be found here; lots of valuable info and links to videos:
    http://www.theflyfishingforum.com/forums/fly-fishing-faqs/3151-what-size-tippet-do-i-use.html

I use 6x or 7x on my 2 wt. If you have a 2 wt fly line.. a 6x leader with 7x tippet will be a good start on a small high country creek with smaller fish. You could adjust from this set-up depending on conditions and size of the fish you find. Good luck on your backcountry fishhike!

Assuming you'll be fishing small streams, so with a 2W and comparable sized flies, I'd say 6X or 7X would be fine. 5X in a pinch if you're fishing heavily wooded areas (may not break as easily).

Can we talk waders (again)? Maybe compatible shoes too.
@Sig45 I think you said you have the low Korkers. Correct?
Thinking it may be time for me to bite the bullet.
