Thanks, I had found that searching for Basin & Range but hadn't looked at it beyond that. Looking at it now I see it has gobs of stuff all over NV!

Thanks for all the links! For the books do you mean one of these:

    https://www.amazon.com/Nevada-Trails-Southern-Region-Massey/dp/1930193149/

or something different on hiking trails?

    Thanks again for the pointers!

not sure yet, I have a friend joining, waiting for him to confirm a time. He's not an early riser so it may be sometime after 9am.

Any other trails in the area worth exploring?

Is potosi 2wd friendly or more of a 4x4 trail?

If you keep to the fire road 2wd is fine. If you go the slightly longer route you could have a couple spots where you will need to be smart in wheel placement but 2wd should make it

unless a storm really messed something up in the last couple months there is basically nothing to worry about on this trail. nothign to climb, nothing to worry about. Its just a fire road. You can take the long way and go through some loose gravel areas. I guess you could get caught up there. but you could awalys stack a rock.

If you're going to the summit it's gated about 3/4 of the way up. If you're just going from hwy 160 to goodsprings you should be able with 2wd as long as you have good tires. Stock probably won't have enough grab in some spots.
