I am looking at doing a Multi-fuel conversation on my 09 1GR and I need some things cleared up. URD sells the Pump kit and Injectors, but after that, what will I need to complete the conversion? I'm assuming at some point I will need something to interact with the ECU to tell it to push more fuel do to the E85? Other than the parts, I'm a bit lost. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Should just need injectors, pump, and a tune. I don't think there is really much of an upside to e85 with a non-boosted motor though.

I'm just about to throw a TRD S/C with the URD 2.55" pulley and 7th Injector kit on it. Just figured I could get the injectors from URD instead of the $400 fit kit, as I have Iridium Plugs already with a TRD CAI.

Whoo.. sounds like a pricey upgrade, but well worth it for more power on a forced induction application.

It could be. The way I look at it though is this; the injectors and harness kit from URD are less than the total cost of the fit kit from TRD, which is, from what I understand, really only injectors, iridium plugs (which I am already running) and a drop in filter (which I don't need because of the CAI). The fuel pump upgrade is only $29 more than the URD upgrade, which I planned to purchase anyway. The big money will come from the fuel line upgrade, which, as has been brought up, will be much necessary, although not exactly required.

That's the part I was thinking. Not so much the physical hardware, but the actual fuel line conversions. Stainless lines are quite pricey by the foot, not to mention you will most likely have to make a lot of it yourself, fittings, adapters etc. I can foresee it adding up to be quite a bit. The gains made by it however I am sure will be well worth it.

What are the gains of burning E85 Vs the high cost of the conversion? Are there any gains to be had from a high ethanol content? The SC by itself OK, but the E85 has me puzzled.

In all truth he might be better off running alcohol injection or methanol. It would be a much cheaper setup. No to mention he wouldnt be filling the tank anywhwere near as often.

E85 is ideal for the trd 2nd gen supercharger especially pertaining to the 7th injector. Finding a proper tune for e85 is the catch. URD will not provide this tune with the UCons. Wonder if anyone is running an e85 tune recently? The only people I know that have were APR tunes.

I could swear that there is some sort of clause of the California law, that if you run E85 only, you don't have to get smogged, OR you can get away with whatever performance mods you want, since the vehicle doesn't pollute like gasoline does. Once you have the certification of E85 only.

Highly valuable if true Op. I remember one of my local friends there talking about his friend who did that. Research it.

The one rubber line that is used, comes with the fuel pump upgrade. It is ethanol rated. Our trucks do not use any rubber hoses.

Then you have to have something to tune the engine which has an ethanol content analyzer.

The UCON can do the tuning. Just need to speaks with URD about how to properly navigate tuning it for e85.

E85 is only useful because it's effective octane rating gives you the ability to run more boost (higher PSI) with forced induction applications. For example, on my RX7 I could only yield about 350whp on pump gas. With E85 450whp was achievable. You will yield no additional power or better gas mileage on a stock 1GR-FE. That's like putting 93 octane in the tank and expecting more power.

It also has a great cooling effect on the combustion process. Personally I'd just run water meth because the TRD kit won't yeild enough boost even with a pulley swap to need the e85. Now it u were running the urd kit then you'd make enough boost and flow too use the octane.

i just have 2 cents to add, when this craze first hit i know the filling stations had issues with the "purity" of their fuel.
for a while, the only way to get good e85 was to get it by the barrel. so keep an eye on the quality of the fuel you are using.
