Finished trimming the bumper today, smashed the pinch weld, and trimmed the body mount. Just enough so I can drive it, but not enough to stop the rubbing. @Bentrodder is doing the real deal next weekend.

Power loss wasn't so bad. So much more stable on the freeway than the 255's, but I was used to those and it wasn't bad. Feels weird. Also, it doesn't feel like riding on an awesome pillow of clouds as I expected, but it does feel softer over speed bumps in the Raleys parking lot.

And a nice box came in today. Beginning of the end, or end of the beginning? I think the beginning of the end started when the bed came off...

Did you go in or out on the pinch weld?

Went in... my 2.5 mini sledge was a joke. Had to use the full- handle sledge to get it to move. Haven't sealed it yet since it may need a bit more after the CMC.

Ha! No full throttle on 35's with 8" ring gears. Shit would break quick.

Thanks! Waiting on the manufacturer to work out some production logistics before they go public. @Iggy will let everyone know when this happens! The flatbed model is something they may or may not offer. Still up in the air.

They were awesome. The Bighorns in particular. A little wider than most 255's and 2nd tallest (Toyo MT's are 1/8" - 1/4" taller) than most 255's. Also D rated, so the ride was nice. Weight wasn't too bad and neither was the price. Plenty of traction.

Haven't wheeled with the 35's yet, so the jury's still out.

This is such a nice set up Phil.

Would you mind sharing some of the dimensions? Like height from frame to the top of the camper and how tall it is from the ground?
How much wider is it than the cab of your truck?
How is the pop top sealed?
What did they use for the corners where the sheet metal meets?
    What's the weight on it?

Thanks Mark! Sorry I left our pizza cutter Bighorn club. Watching you negotiate Slickrock with ease was one more reason I got them. Actually, I still have them if these 35's don't work out...

I'll take some measurements this weekend and update this post. Here's what I do know:

    • Dimensions:
      • will update
    • Height from frame to the top of the camper:
      • will update
    • Height from the ground:
      • will update. Number will be higher until I revert to stock shackle hangers.
    • How much wider the cab is than the truck:
      • matches the width of the truck. The factory fender flares stick out about 3" wider than the doors. The flatbed/ camper is narrower. Overall, the bed is about 6" narrower at the fenders.
    • How the pop top sealed:
      • Rubber gasket material and angle on the lid and roof The fabric will also completely seal the camper.
    • What they used for the corners where the sheet metal meets:
      • RV edge trim extrusion. It works well and hides the hardware. Standard for most contractor caps.

When's the fabric and interior going in? I'm anxious to see the photos of three men and a midget with a camera all cozy.

Camper build distractions caused by the 35" tire addition. CMC this weekend and gears go in next week. I'll get back to it soon after that. We'll hopefully have the fabric by Memorial Day.

And it's 3 midgets and one man. Not sure where i fit in that equation.
