I'm sure it would be good, I can only get Waygu at steakhouses here so I've never tried smoking it. For $100 though I can get a whole tenderloin and either slice it into 6-8 filets or grill it whole for 8-10 friends. To me that's a better special occasion meal. Save the smoker for the cheap meat.

Agreed. That's what smoking is for, taking a tough ass crappy cut and transforming it into a whole other thing. If you make a brisket properly, it's butter soft. If you make a Wagyu brisket properly, it'd probably fall apart into the ashes before you ever got a chance to pull it from the pit.

Agreed. Would probably be awesome, but again, isn't part of BBQ taking an inexpensive cut and making it taste like it was $100 brisket??:notsure:

But, someday, that sure would be nice!

I grew up with a skottle (I am from South Africa where this was invented). The "skottle" is short for 'skottel skaar' (dutch for plough disk), which the farmers put a burner underneath and used it to prepare food in the field.
Anyway, it works awesome. It is almost like a shallow wok. You can grill your meat around the outside and all the juices gather down in the middle low point. You then dip your bread in those juices, or when you do breakfast you cook the bacon and sausage on it, with the eggs in the middle frying in the bacon grease - heaven!

I also have a small camp version of the skottle. It can be a wok, griddle, grill, or stovetop. Use it for breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner when camping.

6.99/lb isn't outlandish for a trimmed flat of choice here in MO. Jealous. One day I'll treat myself to a nice Wagyu fillet and make some bomb carpaccio. I love carpaccio.

Yeah, but it looks like it handles some things better than any of those. Time for a bigger truck!

I thought you weren't supposed to put metal containers in the fridge?
