Type R. We'll see how much that sets me back when it hits dealerships.

I definitely would save more in gas. The tank is half the size and I'd fill up just as often but it'd cost less. My gas expenses doubled coming from a civic si. Even paying premium.

Do the math on a the mpg difference between the two vehicles. I did this for myself some time back. In my scenario, a gain of 5 mpg would take over 100K miles to even start paying for itself. Trying to argue a vehicle trade based on MPG is ludicrous.

I get that I'm probably being a buzzkill, but you need reliability, you don't NEED fun. Again, if you tell us what your true end goals are, you will probably get some good advice on how to achieve them, as lots of us here have finance backgrounds. I actually did this same exact thing about a year ago - sold my F-150 to allow me to use the cash flow elsewhere and bought a 2006 Infiniti to daily with my equity. Been driving it the better part of a year and haven't looked back at all from a financial perspective. My only regret is not being able to find a truck in my budget, but used trucks are crazy high in price it seems.

Again - I would stress doing things that set you up for success in life later. A new truck is cool when you are 25, but a vacation home in Tahoe or a 6 month trip through Europe when you're older is way cooler. Think long term!

That..... Plus 43K on a Subaru? Really? Ok first off why a 4x12... shesh get a real amp trade that in for a Fender Big Twin tube amp, you will sound A LOT better trust me and it won't be as heavy and people won't run to the other side of the hall to avoid your harsh ass sound.. just sayin. There that's good advice.

You have a trouble free REAL nice pickup. I'd be looking else where to save money. Budget apartment, get a dog not a GF and take the dog fishing more but don't buy a boat that's a big money hole.

The WRX will be just a memory, but your Taco will still be going strong and it will retain a lot more value so down the road, you'll be financially happier when you want to trade UP to a new Taco. Oh and it case you decide GF and not dog for some dumb reason, when she gets pregnant you will have a shit ton more room to haul diapers and GFs gear around in the Taco vs the WRX.

I'm with @Clearwater Bill on this one. Pay off your truck quickly. Get out of debt. If you sell/trade your truck you're losing all the interest you've paid out so far and gaining nothing for it in return. You may also take a loss on the vehicle itself.

Life changes quickly. Buying a WRX now might seem fun but 6 months from now you might meet some gal, and 6 months after that get married, and 9 months later have a child. You never know these things.

Focus on getting out of debt instead of changing where your debt is located.

Your goal should be buying a home. Even if you plan to move in a couple years. Property can gain value. Vehicles depreciate. The only way dumping the Turd Gen makes sense is if you're planning to pay CASH for it's replacement.

Already have a Fishing Kayak and that's good enough. Don't really want to fathom getting a kayak on the roof of a WRX either. Got the bed extension for the truck and it works great for the kayak. No GF... lol. Oh and that 4x12 is outing sound from my Marshall JCM2000. I love my tone for what I play.

they find out the hard way, having a sexy car doesn't mean much when you don't have a roof over your head or a good meal regularly. its a good learning experience when you have to face financial realities , after the college professors have brainwashed a pipe dream into their heads about a fair world where everybody gets what they want.

I'm by no means a Bernie supporter. Look at me I'm 25 and paid off my student loans already. I'm all about a fair tax though! And capitalism. I like capitalism.

Although I do agree that some colleges do lean towards that every one gets what they want, that is not true every where and if parents do their job, it doesn't matter what way the college leans.

Save up at least 3 months of bills if you ever get laid off then invest the rest of your cash flow. Then compare if you are making more on your investments or losing more in interest. At least match your company 401K contribution bc that's free money but I would recommend 10-15% of your paycheck. If you are really worried about ~$125 payments I would look other places to cut like hobbies, alcohol, rent and eating out. You would be surprised how much more you will be saving if you do a monthly budget of everything you are spending.

Dude, a lower interest rate would have saved you WAY more than $750.

I'm really not in a bind. I've just been spoiled by living at home and not making a rent payment banking a ton. I know as soon as I move out I'll be banking way less and would like to try to keep that figure of banking still somewhat reasonable. I do match my company 401k but soon i'll be signing up for benefits as well instead of piggybacking off of my parents too lol.
