I like to "let the horses run wild" sometimes. I drive it pretty easy on a daily basis though. Thats what its made for.

Just coming down the mountain from snow boarding and when getting on the freeway. I always get up to 70 before I have to merge, even on the short, uphill ramps lol.

    hahaha... that was good...

question is though, can the OP drive like a race car driver? it would suck to be anywhere near that thing when the OP fucks up and crashes...

Chances are, no. It would probably suck to be near him on the road in general. Driving a truck like a ricer is asking for it unless you have a purpose-built street truck or a desert racer. And even then, not around town. There is a time and place for these things. And the V6s are perfectly happy turning 2k rpm all day.

It's annoying enough having all those assholes in unloaded Dodge Uterus (oh, sorry, RAM) trucks driving like NASCAR wannabes during crowded rush hour conditions, weaving in and out to beat you to the stopped traffic ahead, being all aggro the whole time. Posing morons.

Remember, dude, a lot us just want to get home alive and not waste money or resources. You gotta think about the other folks out there, like US, your fellow TWers. Yup, guess I'm old now. I almost killed myself a few times when I was younger (not just cars, but semis and forklifts, too). But this is the real world, not Gran Turismo on a PS3.

Not to be all preachy, but you opened the discussion. Just think about the rest of us, please. It ain't worth it.

that's a much nicer way of saying it than i would have said it.

bottom line ...don't be an idiot on the road. if you want to act like one, do it on a track away from people who want to live.

I drive fast but only on the expressway. I'm not one of the weaving in and out of traffic. If traffic is moving at 80 then I got 80. It it is moving at 55. I go 55. If there isn't any traffic, I usually go about 75-85.

I usually keep it at about 75 depending on the highway. But we have a ton of farm roads here, so most of the roads are only 55 on avg. I only open it up otherwise when I have to pass a tractor or semi-truck. I don't take things for granted, especially now that I have a 5 month old and wife as my cargo.

Some of my freinds joked that I used to try to drive my old 97 taco (x-cab V6MT 5-lug) like a race car.

Once I sold it to get my RX8 I learned how relative a term driving a taco like a race car is (pretty sure I could match the top speed of a taco in that thing with 2 gears left to go).

Now I've got track suspension on the mazda for that kind of driving and a new taco for the other stuff, so I drive the taco like a pickup and open up the RX8 (aka the "rocket sled") once in a while when I can get some open freeway around me.

Just need to be careful to remember which car I'm in since pulling 1-g lateral in a pre-runner would end as badly as trying to bongo over a curb in something with 3" (maybe less) ground clearance.
