Let me first off say, that this is a response to a specific wheel company (VTX) who has entered the Toyota off road market. Usually I'm all for another company offering more variety. However with the latest two releases I just had to speak up.

I get that yes there are only so many wheel designs and there are bound to be similar designs. But generally each company adds it's own minor changes to the actual design to make it their "own". Which is normal and we've all seen it from every company. But this company (VTX) literally copied two wheel designs from a company we all know. (SCS) The RAY 10 and STEALTH 6 are apparently the "inspiration" for the two latest wheel releases from (VTX). And the "inspiration" is so strong that the wheels look the same. At least with the Stealth 6 clone they added a fake bead-lock to try to "create" something new. Granted these are based on their media releases of these wheels, but I'll post the side by side and let you decide.

Some may say, so what? big deal, companies copy each other all the time. Let me put this into perspective a bit. VTX is a large company, those of you who were into EURO/ASIAN car scene may know they are infamous for clone type wheels. However SCS is NOT a large company. Vin (the owner) is a fellow Tacoma World member, who quit his job to pursue and start up a wheel company tailored to Toyotas. He invests all his time into his business to providing the best wheels he could. All his wheels are designed in house and spends countless days perfecting it to be the end product we all see. He is his own warehouse/distributor/salesman/etc. There are only 2 other employees that work there and they help prep/inspect/ship each wheel. (BTW if you did not know SCS visually inspects every wheel before it leaves) He has been a stand up guy and helped many fellow TW's throughout the years.

This is what makes me mad about this situation. I see a fellow TW member that worked so hard to build up his business and put so much time and effort to create everything that SCS is. Just to have some bigger company take the same designs and try to market it as their own. Claims of inspirational designs? Right. I sincerely hope VTX would at least make the effort to modify the designs enough to be more their own. I hope that some of you will not support VTX's "new" wheel designs as it seems they are banking on those who do not want to wait for SCS wheels. But hey just an opinion of some guy. Make your own decision.

    /END RANT.

    Some comparison between the two:

Yeah. All for a boycott of VTX. Vin is a awesome dude and @SCSPerformance deserves TW's support.:infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry::infantry:

They definitely do look A LOT alike. I still the SCS design is much cleaner and refined. If I was in the market I would not think twice and go with SCS.

Don't forget this guy markets to the same forum we all share.

He's also a vendor on T4R.org, which is a 4Runner version of TW.

Therein lies the difference between a designer and a copier/design thief.

Bet @VTXWheels either doesn't respond at all to this thread or will make a post claiming their idea is original
Either way they are about to lose A LOT of potential buyers here on tw

    Cool back story on SCS.

Inspired to use them when I buy new wheels.

    Thanks!

I'll skip on the poser wheels.

Would never purchase from VTX. What a shitty thing to do, especially going after @SCSPerformance wheels designs. Like @Mademan925 said, boycott VTX! And @sytfu510 i am in love with your truck:drool:
