It's about having a homegrown product having to share space in a small knit community with a much larger company that sells the same design.

It's like Walmart coming into your neighborhood and selling the same thing your mom and pop does.

Some people don't care because they see dollars saved, some people do care because they'd rather support a mouth they know.

I'll be honest. 90% of the time I'm looking for the cheapest thing I can find. No one likes spending their hard earned money. But in certain situations like this its complete BS. As said above, competition is great and all, but that only works for things that don't have much difference (such as shocks), in this case its just rebranding and theft. Granted, its not technically illegal, but its still fuckin bullshit.

Agreed. Vin's a great guy. Even after you're a customer he's still cool, which can't be said about alot of companies that give zero fucks once they get your money.

 

Patents are a joke these days, even if you have one, its usually not as useful in a court battle as money and lawyers. That being said, this was never raised as an issue of legality, like so many have already pointed out.

 

Copying wheel designs is one thing... but I'm definitely copying this meme - that shits funny!

 

Where the justice system fails the internets reach is far and unforgiving. Just by this thread alone, exposing this dickmunch hurts his business. I hope it takes him a decade to clear his inventory of shit. The fact that he will still likely profit bothers the hell out of me.

Nobody is trying to change the world, and a thread on TW isn't going to take anyone's livelihood, especially in a company the size of Varrstoen - but if we can limit big companies from taking designs from small ones that support our forum, and not have this place be a free for all for big businesses - then everybody wins.

Vendors support the forum, we should support those vendors. Buy the other shit on eBay or anywhere else, we have guys who were small as can be and now have a metric fucktons of dollars in equipment a few years later, and still treat us like friends, customers or not.

Couldn't give a fuck less if ATX loses money, I just don't care to see him make it here.

Jumping in because f*** corporate espionage but also f*** that dude on t4r. I wasn't that active there but he legit bought his way in - acted super coy about how - then totally shit talked the SAS 5th gen build just because it was getting too much attention. All of a sudden he's an expert on long travel, snorkels, and alignments and I'm pretty sure he's only turned a superficial wrench (nothing wrong with that if you don't pretend to be someone you aren't).

Once they started moderating the off-topic forums there, I kind of filtered out and on to here (which is much closer to the forums I'm used to from years ago).
