A.R.E. MX shell, DIY sleeping platform w/ drawer system, surfboards and camping gear that stays loaded. 600-700# constant load is my guess.

I think I lost 3/4" or so with that load and the standard Dakar pack (no AAL). So you'd probably only lose 1/2" or so? Can't remember offhand what the AAL adds in height.

 

I'd assume for level look you'd be cranking them pretty high, especially if you have added weight up front.

 

No added weight up front other than RCI Skid.. I'm getting my BAMF sliders tomorrow. You think they will have much impact on the front?

Truthfully, I've spend so much money lately, I might as well just get some UCAs and be done with it.. I'm fairly certain I've spent more time on this site that working lately. Crazy, this damn site has cost me a fortune. Both in time and money. Good times!

 

I never had sliders, so can only speak from others experiences - but yes.

Sliders are heavy as fuck, 160 lbs-180 lbs right? How much are yours?

Have someone 165 lbs sit in the cab and see what it drops. I would venture its probably 1/2" on stock suspension with the skid.

 

Good point! Looks like I'm gonna have to crank those 6112s up and get UCAs. Hopefully have this done withing the next 2 weeks. I'm doing all the work myself to learn, so I'm sure it will take longer than what it would take most. Good thing I have a beater Civic to drive to work while my truck sits disassembled in the garage for days and days.

Yeah, I think you can.. I remember reading that some guys went with 650# and others went with 700# coils instead of what comes with the 6112s. I'm fairly certain it was guys with plate bumpers.

 

Yeah I wouldn't go that high for your setup.

650 should be good though, I was figuring they come with 600s but 650s should save you a few cranks.

I'm not sure what # springs they come with.. I'm looking on the website now and it doesn't say anything about lbs rating. All it says is

• Custom engineered cold wound linear springs for enhanced vehicle control

I think when I read that guys went to either 650# or 700# springs, that they were upgrading to those.

Now, I need to find out what comes standard with the 6112s...

 

As mentioned, yes you can. Eibach has 14" coils for the size of the 6112's.

I am currently trying to decided which to go with....driving me nuts actually.

6112's come with 14" 600# coils. The Eibach 14" 650# or 700# are used to carry the extra weight of plate bumpers, winches skids, etc. They're the same length as the ones that come with the 6112's but have higher springs rates so they sag less with the additional weight.

 

I decided to just get the damn UCA's as part of my suspension plan since I'm going to have everything apart and I didn't want to do it again. Extra cost but I will be able to get the alignment numbers I want.

My plan was to set the 6112's to the 4th notch (2.15" per Bilstein but people get close to 2.5") with the coils that come with them but now that I am going with a aluminum plate bumper, winch, aluminum skids and steel sliders I will be using either 650# or 700# coils probably set to the 3rd notch since they will not sag as much as the 600# coils. I am hoping this will get me close to the 2.5" of lift I want.

 

Confused. Why would you set them up a notch instead of using the could to lift?

 

Thanks for all the info! You've just settled it for me, I'm getting the damn UCA's now too. Do it right the first time and buy once, cry once. Now, just to decide on which ones. I guess Total Chaos is what most people run, so I'll start there. As far as the springs, it's going to be tough to know if I should upgrade. I guess I'll be driven nuts trying to decide too. Dammit!

 

Not sure I understand what you're saying....looks like autocorrect or typo.

No extra weight the 6112's would be set to the 4th notch (2nd highest setting) but with the extra weight and 650 or 700 coils they will probably be set to the 3rd notch since the coils will not sag as much. I would rather do this than increase the preload on the coils.
