Just got the truck couple of days ago and noticed there are times when I stepped on the brake, the front of my shoe hit the black boot (for the steering rack?) right on top of the brake pedal preventing me from pressing further on the brake, scared the heck out me the first time.

My shoes size is just an 8 and I was wearing my loafers, not a boot or anything too bulky. The seat is sort of low which I like but I can't let the seat slide too far back that I have to reach for the steering wheel. So my legs don't have the exact room to be in the comfortable position so sometimes I stepped on the brake at almost mid point of my shoe instead of the top part. I think that's the reason but I am only 5'8. Anyone else has this "problem" ?

    Thanks

I've had this problem too. Coming from a 350Z I'm used to a recliner style seating with my legs kicked out instead of a more upright chair-like position. There's been a handful of times I've hit the brake and the ball of my foot is on the brake arm instead of the pedal. I got by with shoving the heel of my foot towards the floor or just pressing much harder.

I found that when I first got my truck I had to alter my normal foot position...and kind of sit duck footed with my right foot at a 45 degree angle to the floor. No a problem, just different from other vehicles. FWIW, I have a size 12.

My shoe has hit that thing too. I brake with either left or right foot and it only happens with my right though. Size 9.

Exactly. I'm 5'10" and wear a size 13 and have never hit anything other than what I intended with my foot. OP, you might be doing something wrong...

I have noticed this as well. BUT, only on the rare quick brake.

I just shrug it off because I have size 15 feet. Just a different angle than the other vehicles I have owned.

For those with big size, do you rest your heel on the floor and rotate your foot to gas/brake or you actually lift your foot to brake? If you rotate I can see that your foot won't hit it.

Size 12 and I typically rotate my foot between the gas and brake so I normally don't hit. However if I'm stopped at a light and reposition my foot (say, to reach something in the back) I will hit my foot up top.

    Interesting...

I'm 5'9" with three pedals down there and I've never had any issues with hitting the wrong one.

It's a different posture than my Scion- but that's kinda one of those "No shit Sherlock" things- Keep that in mind and I'm all set.

My girlfriend is 4'9" and wears a size 5 shoe, and she rests her heel on the floor just like I do.

Maybe you just need to change your driving style.

I think when a panic stop happens most people will lift the foot and slam on the brake pedal and if you hit the pedal at the ball or lower part of your foot you'll hit the boot. May be I should take a picture showing how much clearance between the pedal and the boot.

You can test it by quickly lift your foot off the gas pedal and slam on the brake pedal and floor it to see if you'll hit or not. You don't have to drive it, just start the engine and leave it in Park.
