    I think it would be tough to put it on top of a soft topper. What is the weight? I have a paddle vest that it usually wear because there are so many stories where good swimmers die. If I take it off, I just flip it back over my seat. I think it's only required you have one on board. You are required to have an audible device. I have a whistle attached to my vest.

    Yeah- need to mow the lawn too. Same issue, lol.

    Catawba River- we live along Lake Wylie, near the dam. Either kayak on lakeside or riverside, as the dam releases. Duke energy website has dam release schedule.
    After heavy rains, they sometimes just let it flow!

    What @Apexgigi and @TownvilleTim said. I wear my pfd anytime I am paddling. Got a safety whistle for the pfd from Amazon. May also consider a dry bag of some sort for your phone and keys.

    Make sure your kayak paddle has the drip rings near each end. :thumbsup:

    Drip rings are a must, especially in cooler weather. Most good paddles will have them. And I like a long paddle since I have a wide body angler. Agree with the dry bag, but some SOTs have dry hatches that work well. A flag is not a bad idea to be more visible. Mine has an LED light at the top for those early morning or late evening runs. I think some kind of warning light is also required.
