This is why dealerships should really be concerned about customer experiences....one person just caused TOD to lose thousands of dollars in profit, one post on an internet forum has indirectly effected many many people who will now steer away from toyota of dallas and will tell others of the experience.......

How much was that oem side panel again?

Sometimes its better to keep customers happy and shut up.

Hey Valkyrie - It would have been better for the dealership for you to come out and say "We are replacing all damaged parts of the truck with new OEM Toyota parts." Then the problem would have gone away. But instead you tried to do damage control and made things worse by drawing more attention to the issue. I have no doubt that people are leaving this thread with an unfavorable opinion of Toyota of Dallas now. No matter what you say. People are going to believe what they want.

You really think I don't know that? I couldn't have come out and said anything like that because I wasn't involved.

Heck, the thread didn't start until yesterday afternoon, and by that time the truck was in the paint booth.

I know people are gonna believe whatever they want... always have, always will. Maybe I did unnecessarily draw attention to this. I knew that was a risk going in, but if you re-read what I wrote (with your gloves down) you may get a clearer picture of me. I didn't make excuses for anyone, and if you read anything that way then I'm sorry, it wasn't my intent.

I agree, they have nothing to do with this and I stated so. I was trying to answer a direct question about what I wrote.

I said in the beginning I did not want to go tit-for-tat, and while I think (hope) I didn't appear that way I feel I'm at the point I need to let this thread continue it's course for the evening.

One of the difficult things about forums is that it's difficult to convey tone and feelings, especially among people who don't know each other.

Suffice it to say I give a damn, and I am not afraid to call it like it is, even if it turns out we have committed even more blunders.

Of course I am partial to the dealership, just many of you are towards a forum member. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, as long as it doesn't cloud your judgment or impair your objectivity.

I'm going to try to get over after work and see the truck for myself.

    Have a good night folks...

I can't decide if this thread = WIN or FAIL...

I guess if you're that TRD parts site, or Tacoma of Dallas, it's a pretty big fail.

    I speak for myself only:
If the dealership would have handled the incident right and treated the OP fairly this would have been a 2 post thread. However things didn't go that way and the dealer tried to cheap out on the OP. I dont want hand outs, however I want to be treated fairly, and from what I know of the situation is that the OP was not treated fairly. I dont know anyone on this site personally I only know them by posts, but I will defend anyone if they have been wronged. That was how I was brought up and that is how my son will be brought up. Do the right thing and 99% of the time shit just works out.

yeah man, i must say, wnyone who says the dealer is offering a good deal is ridiculous. if you hit one of their cars, they would charge you for genuine toyota parts, not body filler. its big business vs little joe, and they assume that the consumer is too ignorant, too busy and too scared, and no resources to deal with something like this, do it my way or get out. thats not how it works, screw all you who think its the same as a parking lot. hit n run is your problem, dealership doin it, is their problem to make back to pre damage condtion. in a parking lot, you can decide to do it however you wish, what ins will pay most likely varies based on policy coverage. and type of damage, of course a scratch wont be replacing a panel, but u get thepoint. pursue this and make them restore to the way it was. no better no less.

this is the shit that makes people walk into a place of business and shoot them all down. this is that same shit you will see on the news later as to why society just explodes. most laws protect big business, but some few agenices exist to protect you, and they work, it just takes time.

You know, the OP has said a few things here about this and I feel for the guy and the dealership. But I see a problem here with this thread. The OP and the dealership are the only ones that know FOR SURE on what has taken place and what is being done to fix this. I don't know about you or anyone else, other than the OP, that has seen any pics or first hand. We really don't know what's going on here. You THINKING that you speak for most if not all of the forum members and NOT knowing any of us has made this a bad deal for a lot of people that had nothing to do with it or control over it. I'm speaking of all the employees that had nothing to do with this incident and call this their job, work place of lively hood to make ends meet. It's all of us here that are bashing and have no clue and or right to say or type anything bad about anyone or anything that is making this thread worse. The truck will get fixed, the dealership will continue to strive and the OP will move on. No one has denied mistake or fault. Lets just hope the dealer makes it right and the OP is happy in the end. Until then, let's do some crowd control and see how it pans out.

^That's right on. A lot of BS talk about who should do what and blah blah blah when we're really only getting one side of the story. Who personally knows the OP and can vouch for him? Should I take what some anonymous internet denizen as the word of God?

Having said that, my feeling is that he's telling the truth but the fact is, we haven't officially heard from the dealership and gotten their side.

I back this statement up 100%. Way back when I had my Scion, a guy in our club was a tech at T.O.D. One night we put drop springs, intake, etc. on my xB in the T.O.D. shop after business hours were over. Even in a small Scion, that place was a huge PITA to navigate through. I can understand how it happened and it sucks that it did happen.

On a side note, my door handles came from TRDParts4U and came in this week. It took 2 shipments to get all the pieces to me, but they were in excellent condition. :D

Do you know the OP? Of course you don't. So, really, what do you know other than what has been said here? Nothing.

Let's remember, he has 20 posts and has only been a member of the site since last month. Does that automatically negate anything he's said? Of course not but all I'm saying is to take it with a grain of salt.

1st.--Two sides to everything, wrong and or right, in this case. 2nd--I do believe he took it back for them to fix before he posted? 3rd--Only he knows why and what he's doing and 4th--Here we go again with posters that don't know all of the facts, "cynicism".

BTW, have we seen any pictures yet? I just browsed the thread and didn't see any. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean anything as maybe the OP is busy working or something.

Post #104 refers to the pictures.

The quote sums up what happened by an account of an employee of the dealership. Doesn't matter if he's a representative or not, he's got knowledge of the fact from the employee which was driving the vehicle when the incident happened.
