Sweers states the rear ends are made in AR. I only see the Tundra rear on their site, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

My concern is leaving my truck sit at a dealership for 2+ months without it ever being started or driven around. That's not good for a vehicle. I hope you did a few of these things. https://www.edmunds.com/car-care/how-to-prep-your-car-for-long-term-storage.html

No kidding. I posted a while back about tips for leaving my truck sit idle for 3 weeks. I get the feeling some of these are going to sit idle for way longer than that. Sorry to the 3rd Gen crowd, that sucks

do we know that they'll have to sit that long or is that worst case scenario? The recall states that they can replace the gasket if it's leaking, but I assume that replacing the diff (in the case of internal damage) could easily result on a long wait.

Had 20K service yesterday. My VIN is clear/ no recall. I reminded them about the diff noises that we documented at delivery, 5K, 10K, and 15K service intervals. I also asked them to check out the weeping rear diff. I was told that the noise is normal, diff is full, weeping is normal, and that if diff grenades I am covered by warranty. I feel much better.

I was at the dealership yesterday for 5K service, and had them check my diff even though I am not in the recall list and see no signs of leakage. The service guy mentioned that they had to do this on every taco on their lot before they can be sold, so it is indeed going to result in vehicles being declared unsafe.

    Holy shit.

I've had better luck with Round rock toyota on service and sales. I've had some bad service experiences at Charles Maund.

They're both decent shops. I've bought several vehicles from both, and used both for service. Maund and Classic have each documented my rear end noises, and neither of them seem to think it's a big deal.

For the record, on the sales side I could not get Round Rock Toyota to do anything for me. I dealt with Autonation, Maund, and Round Rock all via internet, and paid each a visit. The only one interested in earning my business was Maund. They placed an order for my OffRoad 6MT and gave me a really good deal.

I had the the opposite. Maund wouldn't work on price. Round Rock was reasonably priced but too slow in responding via email. I got a recommendation for someone at Autonation that I told exactly what I wanted. He just ordered it and gave me the best price. I think it is probably more related to the people we interact with than the dealerships overall.
