    I read your posts, don't assume I didn't.

They kept it because corporate lawyers advised them to keep it after your dealership consulted them, in effect saving themselves from any possible liability especially if you continue to drive it and it becomes a big leak, loss of all fluid and a diff lockup.

I posted a few times earlier that if anyone takes them a leaking truck, expect them to keep it.

whatever dude..... have dealt with dealerships and toyota for 30 plus years, you're a guy on the internet. who took a leaking truck in and it needs to be fixed.

so what, leave it there, get it fixed and in the meantime, you have a loaner to enjoy

Hmm checked my rear diff. Assembled in 2/17 showing signs of leakage. Nothing major but you can see there's wetness around the diff casing

Good call man. Just set my appointment up with them for next weekend

@Getskyhigh yea that's correct. It doesn't cover OR PROs or any manual transmission... Yet. May change hard to say. As others said, visually inspect your diff forward of the rear wheels, if you see any kind of seepage or residue call your dealer and get it documented.

Wasn't really aware of the recall. I had my 20K service appointment today and the SA showed me the recall. Tech said they will tightne the diff bolts, and if no leak - send me on my way. Which is fine. I never bothered to check myself.

nothing to get all hysterical about, pretty much says that if the diff looses all or a lot of oil it could lock up, not its going to lock up at any second regardless of the oil seepage, jeez. usually what happens is the dealer verifys the leak, dealer orders or has the parts on hand, dealer fixes leak, owner rolls on home not to complicated.also most all other Toyota trucks have similar things that needed to be addressed and were TSB d or recalled for.the most famous was the GEN1 frame rotting, Toyota replaced the whole frame on recall when necessary I don't think any domestic or even foreign automakers would go that extra mile to keep owners happy.

Recall doesn't affect OR and Pro yet but if you have a leaking diff, take it in and it will get repaired due to warranty, you won't be turned away for not being on the recall list.

Recall offers free inspection on affected models, if not on the list and you still want an inspection, don't be surprised if they ask you to pay for labor if nothing is found. Not saying shops are doing it but I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to be compensated for the time on unaffected trucks.

Depends on the goodwill of the dealership.

Maybe yes but maybe no. -- Once Tacoma owners drive the loaner Yaris for a few days they may want exchange/trade it and keep the new Yaris.

See ya all over on the Yaris forum.

BTW - Big discussion over on Yaris forum right now on purse space vs space for extra work shoes. Also check the thread out on flip down make-up mirror light settings.

And some know the difference between TSB's and recalls, requires different approaches in either case.

This just bums me out now. So based on this, we may need 228,000 loaner cars. When I made my appointment for next week I asked if they have the part to correct on hand. Kids said yes, but we know that he's just misinformed at the moment.

Decisions. Take it in and risk not having my truck for a day or month or don't take it in a having a extreme issue arise.

    None as of yet
dealer claims 1% because thats what is says in their notice from Toyota. Now if 1% is an actual physical drop, I can see that statement as accurate, but seeping is also a leak and that is clearly occurring far more often. All depends on what the lawyers are calling a leak.

Should not be neglect anyhow. The bulletin states Toyota will be mailing out letters to owners on the recall this summer. (Mid-June 2017)

    I miss @smitty99.

So I wonder if they plan to do the same for the OR and PROs too? Or will it take more people documenting these issues before they get addressed?
