There's been speculation on here that Toyota was aware of the issue and starting using a newer version of the sensor (the one with the hash mark). Apparently not.
This fucking bugs me man. Known widespread issue that they won't/can't address. For me, if this fails at the wrong time I'll potentially have a day's hike ahead of me.

With all these threads, I'm beginning to think I should just throw a spare CPS into the truck to have ready for the inevitable. What's it take to swap one?

Same way the Low Transmission fluid was addressed? The passenger pillar chattering? Leaf springs squeaking sense the 2nd Gen was first produced? Misaligned bed? Nothing will change, unless done after it is built. People swore up and down, even waited to buy 17s thinking magically it will be better. Foolish. Even the TRD Pro owners swear their trucks are built with higher quality specs. NOPE! Same dickhead with a cigarette hanging from his mouth is stamping, QA OK on the paper for my TRD OR as the Pro that came off the line before mine...

Do you know where these sensors are located and how hard they are to swap? My google-jit-su is failing me.

Why not install it? Wait for it to fail, ruin your catalytic converter, your day, and potentially a safety issue

Wouldn't be a bad idea to take those three posts and make a thread for anyone wanting to swap it themselves. It bugs me when people have something that warrants its own thread, but don't create one and it just gets lost in the sauce.

Thanks. That's what warranties are for I guess. Still frustrating on a brand new truck.

The dealership finally called me back. They are saying it's the direct injector on the number 4 cylinder. They are waiting on Toyota to tell them whether they should replace the one or all of them. Not going to get it back until at least Tuesday.
