Different gear ratio, probably assembled on a different production run.

The only thing to watch is that in the 228000 thread someone mentioned talking to Toyota and Toyota saying that all the vins had not been updated yet. No clue if this is true or not but thats what a member posted.

I think it's a different rear. IIRC 8 3/4" vs. 8" for the 4.30 vs. 3.90, but maybe that's just the ring gear?

Even if it's the same pumpkin it's probably a different manufacturing run.

I have this sound as well. Does yours happen when cold and just starting out?

I have been playing in the higher revs 3000-5000 noticed it has not been as bad as before. Though my experiment might be flawed, due to the fact that it is warmer here now..

Lot of people on here use Redline MT-90 or Amsoil manual transmission. I think I'll probably use Redline.

I went with Amsoil at 60K with my 5-lug, figured that should be good for another 100k.

Anyone know if amsoil or mt90 is better for cold weather performance? I spend weeks each year below zero so cold performance is important to me.
