How do you adjust the volume on bluetooth

I have the hands free bluetooth phone system on my new tacoma and when I get an incoming call the ringer in the trucks system almost makes me run off the road. I have adjusted the "guide" volume but that only deals with the computer voice not the ringer. Does anyone know if it is possible to change the ringer and the volume?

 

I adjust the volume but the next time I drive the car, the old setting comes back.

 

The +/- on the left side of your steering wheel controls volume while talking, but I haven't found the ringer volume.

 

Yeah, I figured that out. I just wish there was a way to change the ringer and the ringer volume. Talk about unsafe...this ringer is toooo loud and annoying. Not cool to have it go off like a tsunami siren when you are going 75mph

 

Try lowering the ringer on your phone. Worked for me.

 

you can lower just the ringer on the bluetooth. i have done it.

i think one way is to call into your phone and press the + / - on the steering wheel while its ringing.
i think there is also another way through the bluetooth menu options.

 

I had the same problem. Toyota made the volume too loud.

I have attached the instructions to this post for modifying the volume. Haha Toyota made a TSB for it.

You have to wait until a call comes in and then adjust the volume of the ring when it's ringing. What I have found is that you can adjust the volume of everything real-time except the command voice. This you have to do under the system setup.

I really like the Bluetooth feature but it wouldn't have been that difficult to enable other Bluetooth features. Why couldn't it allow for the playing of audio through Bluetooth like a wireless headphone does? I also wish it would sync up to my Blackberry address book and caller ID name.

 

I have an 09 with bluetooth and it does not have ANY steering wheel controls except for the radio. Did I get jipped? My steering wheel looks nothing like the one in the picture for the TSB. My ring tone is ok but the volume sucks when someone is talking to me on the bluetooth. Comments?

 

On a 2010 you need to use the radio controls not the steering wheel controls. Per the Manual on page 277 at the bottom of the attached pdf.

Next SYSTEM SETUP (On the Radio)
Next GUIDANCE VOL (on the radio)
Setting voice guidance volume

Make your adjustment and you are done. Mine has stayed at the new volume since I have set it.

I did all my programming on my 2010 (JBL), hook up, phone entries, voice command, speed dials, adjust ring volume (ask someone to call me and adjust like someone mentioned above) using the buttons on the steering wheel. The only time I ever need to use the radio control is for speed dialing.

 

Slight thread jack, but does anyone have the Toyota OEM bluetooth setup? I have an 06 and they hadn't added the built-in feature yet. Anyone know if these are worth the $$?

 

Glad I searched this one...Every time my phone rang it happened to be while I was turning a corner and caused me to jump...Hopefully it works for the 2011 as well

It does. You adjust it for the ring, and then for the incoming voice using the steering wheel volume controls as they happen. This is not in the owner's manual and it is a major pain in the ear! (until you adjust!)

Done a little searching, but still not sure. I read that you can add the blue tooth steering wheel controls to trucks that have the radio steering wheel controls pretty easily. But if your happy with the stock radio, what blue tooth systems can make use of these blue tooth steering wheel controls?

Do they only work with the JBL OEM radio's or will the BT steering wheel controls also work the toyota blu logic add on system?

 

yep. ive got their blu logic in my '10. came as a factory option. i was pretty excited about havin it since state laws require it and im not jazzed about havin a phone in my hand while i drive. anywhoo... its functional at best. sometimes the quality is poor and folks cant hear me well enough to carry on a convo in a quiet truck (windows up, etc). the button is in a dumb place (down low and above the cubby hole behind the cup holders, under a shelf below the a/c controls). the cool thing is it auto mutes the stereo and my ipod when usin the aux audio plug, and the ring doesnt skeer me outta my shorts like the jbl's seem to do to these other guys.

now, is it worth 3 hunny? not sure. you may have to figure in another c-note for install too which makes a $100 lt uhura signature model ear piece much easier to swallow.

 

This only address's the guidance main volume. Does nothing for extremely loud ringer when a call comes in. I think most of here are complaining of the loud ringer problem and it sounds as though we don't have a way of adjusting the incoming call ringer volume until a call actually comes in. Which defeats the purpose since it's the first ring that scares the begeebus out of us each time it happens. Not worth using the bluetooth if I'm gonna knock a year off the back end of my life every time someone calls.

 

You adjust the ringer volume while it's ringing and it will stay the way you adjust it.

 

Exactly. Sorry I thought I updated this post. When someone calls in, or you call in via your wife's phone, just use the steering wheel controls to set the volume while it's ringing. The system WILL remember the volume setting for next time. However I've noticed that it will remember each time you use the service when someone calls. So if you set it once and raise the volume the next time, it's memory will revert to the most recent volume setting used.

I thought I had it set after a few calls, then one particular call needed to be louder due to road noise. Next call I received, once again scared the beegebus out of me. So remember each call recieved to set the appropriate volume level each time or the next call will SUCK.
