Good afternoon to ya. I just bought a white 2008 double cab Tacoma. It is the base model so it has the black fender flares (which I really like) and black front and rear bumpers. I was thinking of putting a chrome bull or brush bar on the front to dress it up a bit, but I hate the look of the skidplates. After some research I found out you can take remove a few secrews and take them off but I was curious how they attach. do they screw directly to the tubing? Or are there little tabs that are welded to the bar, that would be hanging off? If anyone has a picture of their Westin or Aries bull bar mounted without the skid plate I would really appreciate it! Or if you have any other suggestions to make my Tacoma look a little more razoo that would be great too! THanks

welcome to tw!!! just my opinion, but i think a black westin or aries would look pretty sweet on your truck instead of the chrome!!! here is a pic of the aries bull bar i had on the 06 prerunner that i used to have......

I agree with tacomaman, that a black bar would look best with the plain Taco as opposed to the chrome. I have a very basic silver regular-cab with the black fender flares, and installed a black Westin grill-guard (not a bull-bar) and think it looks great. See avatar.

Nice looking ride HardCase your avitar looks sweet! If you could post or send me a front and side pic I would be very greatfull! What do you think of the Westin brush bar as far as strength and stability?

On a side note my folks live in Kalispell, I was hoping to get up there and visit them this summer, but I've been stuck in northern California on wildfires....

oh you bastard- you got black fender flares on your base? that's what i wanted, i didn't get the flares.
check my pics in my profile. i have a white reg cab with a black westin style bar, black grillcraft grill, (since posting those pics)
and, whenever i can find and afford some, black fenders and rocker panels to finish of my 'black on the bottom' look.
base is nothing to be ashamed of. it's a blank canvas! ;)

Check out the Hunter black bull bar. No skid plate and it's cheaper than the Westin or Aries.

LOL! I hear ya, trust me I wish I had a picture I could share it would make this easier. About 10 minutes after I finalized the deal, and we were waiting for the dealer to clean it up before they handed off the keys I got called to Alasksa for work and ended up flying out that afternoon. I was up there for a week, when they called again and said your going northern California. Where I have been for about 2 weeks. SO to make a long story short I have had a brand new truck sitting in my driveway for 3 weeks and I haven't even been able to breath in that new car smell, let alone drive it, or snap pictures of it! I'm hoping I'll get released in a week or too so I can get my fingers on her.

I hate to admit my limitations, but I fear that I've not yet mastered the skill of posting or attaching pics here. I guess I need to do a bit of searching/reading. I'm pretty much a computer moron.

I really like the look of the Westin bar, haven't truly "tested" it but it seems heavy and rugged.

We've had a great summer here in the Flathead, no bad fires yet, perfect weather.

Thats kind of what I thought, with the right accessories it could look really sharp. Especially when I loose those street slicks they call truck tires and put something with some meat on it.
