I use the fluid film in a spray can, get it at lowes for about $10 a can. I used 2-3 for the underside. I scraped rust off with a wire brush, repainted with rustoleum oil based paint and let it dry a couple of days. The fluid filmed underneath. My underside is rust free, even after a salt infused winter.
Yeah, user name of rusty differential would be funny, lol.

Dents in roof from poorly loaded canoe. Broken side mirror from blown transfer truck tire. Scuffed up front bumper from thinking I was still in a corolla. Graham cracker embedded upholstery from a crazy kid.
Mine was dry. I took it into the dealership today anyway. They rechecked it and re-tightened everything. I was going to do it myself, but I figured this way if something happens there was a paper trail.

Same here... If I have spare time, I will wander down, however, I will likely wait for my next service.

I guess my question is.. "The Leak" is the biggest concern right? If there is no signs of leakage there is technically no damage done?

Spot on!! My local dealer did used to HATE it when a knowledgeable owner came in armed with good information and a TSB. They would always give me that old "Don't believe any of that shit you read on the Internet." line, then they'd try to make me think I was just completely misinformed about the issue ("That's just normal..."). They can still try that tactic, but they really can't fight it anymore. We've got the goods now! The best dealers are the ones who embrace the fact that good, solid information really is available to owners via the Interwebs, and they seem to be responding in a much more positive fashion when an owner presents a documented issue, without trying to BS them.

2017 DCLB OR. 9/16 Build date baja assembled. Not on the recall list I have the howling diff and a little seepage. Not happy, just under 3000 miles. Had a 2011 DCLB sport that had 0 issues. Wish I had ordered a 2015.

If I knew they would keep my truck and loan me a new RAV4 I would not wait for my letter from Toyota to arrive about the recall. Like to drive a RAV4 for a couple weeks before I trade my Tacoma in NOV of 2018 when the warranty runs out.

Just checked mine and it has the "diff sweats", but:

Isn't it going to be hard to see it when the diff housing metal is black?

I can only see it because it glistens differently than the surrounding black metal. But I can see this being possibly difficult to see. :frusty:

I understand that there are a lot of people pissed off about this, but there is so much misinformation that it's comical. Your 2011 didn't have zero issues, there were nine recalls that year.

lol this^^ they all have their issues. I traded in my 2011
on this one and had 2 before that.

When I get the letter and they have the parts I'll be taking mine in.
