    5100 set to max, pending LSD and TRD CAI
    When the ballast first fires the bulb on an HQI light, the power draw spikes very high for about 2-3 seconds. You said that the 35watt ballast isn't strong enough to cause problems but I was wonder if there is a power spike on HID ballast like there is on HQI ballast.


    Just a thought…

    the digital slim hid kit from ddm draws ~ 6A at start-up, then down to ~3A after it's warmed up

    I got my hella 500s from walmart for $62. i went with the slim ballast so i might try and mount them to the actual light. I will post up all the info when i start.

    With these, you can mount the ballast up much higher in my engine compartment when hooking up the fogs

    I'm thinking this will keep them much dryer and take less abuse if they are mounted up higher away from the elements

    Here is how to hook up your wiring harness [​IMG]

    Here is what get hooked up to what:

    1. Connect to Left Ballast input

    2. Connect to Right Ballast input
    NOTE: 1 & 2 may be reversed depending on where your battery is and how long the connector cable legs are.

    3. Connect to the Positive + side of your battery.

    4. Connect to the Negative - side of your battery.
    Note: the negative power leg may also be connected to a solid chassis ground.

    5. Connect to your car's stock headlight power cable.
    Note: This connection can be to either the right or left headlight power connector. The other headlight connector is no longer used and should be covered in electrical tape or other material to protect the connector ends from the environment.

    How it works:
    The Headlight power connector (5) powers the relay (6) which provides power directly from the battery (3 & 4) through a fuse (7) to the HID ballasts (1 & 2).

    not to rain on your parade, but the ddm tuning slim ballast kit draws under 6A at startup (inrush) and 3.4A once they're at normal operating temperature (continuous load).

    the article you posted states that "the factory design parameters for headlight circuits are 7A inrush and 4.5A continuous load".

    so how would the h10 slim ballast kit from ddm damage the factory wiring? increased loads cause heat which in turn does the damage to the wiring. but the hid kit draws less power than the 7A drawn at startup and the 4.5A drawn at normal operating temp by the OEM halogen bulbs. :confused:

    i'm not saying there's a problem using a harness, but you haven't convinced me it's necessary with this kit.

    So I am fixing to order but I need some input. I went through all 11 pages and I could not find the answer.

    My question is: What combination would be best(closest in color)?

    --Headlights - Fog Lights--

    1. 55w/6000k - 35w/6000k

    2. 55w/6000k - 35w/5000k

    3. 55w/8000k - 35w/6000k

    I saw the little diagram on DDM's website but I am hoping someone has first hand experience.

    I would go 4500k in the fogs but thats just me... 4500k or 5000k will probably work fine for you.
