Its simple really, I believe it was caused by 3rd member gasket failure, leaking all the oil out and eventually seizing something (carrier bearings and or pinion bearing failure due to no oil condition), I WOULD suggest going round the world on your bolts with a small 3/8" drive and hit all the 14mm nuts lightly to make sure it isnt an under torque assembly problem from Toyota that causes the gasket to fail, because that will cause exactly that!
You dont need to crank on them just a check to make sure they arent extremely loose!

I'm going to do that later today. Should have done it when I was under there yesterday. Noticed seepage but I wasn't sure if that was me off roading through water or oil so I gave the diff a bath haha

The Trip Reports forum here on TW is kind of hidden. Since I am from San Diego area and SpeedFreek Jason is the mechanic for my Taco, please enjoy my latest Baja trip report. I was south exploring for 7 days (got back 3 days ago) and have 3 of the 7 days posted so far, here is the link, and a couple teaser pics from Days 1-3: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...idad-san-quintin-remote-pacific-roads.488412/

I'll have a stock pack available soon, but I doubt that's what you're looking for!

I have a stock leaf pack with Deaver three leaf progressive AAL installed. It's sitting in my garage. PM me if you're interested in purchasing for a nominal fee.

Good luck with that. Cameron just finished the Mexican 1000.
I added more to my trip report, just now.

I will text you soon about doing another check over of my truck... It just flipped 100,000 miles on this last Baja expedition. Thanks to you, and Toyota quality, no problems!

One thing that hasn't been done unless Toyota Carlsbad did at the 60,000-mile service, is the radiator flush, replace fluid? What is your opinion on that, as to how often and what brand coolant is best. Is a 50/50 mix with water still the way to go? Thanks, Jason!

All the clamps are broken. Already have shocks/bumps for a Dakar/all pro pack. Trying to get away from the crappy stock pack

Ok gotchya, you need something to match a 2.5"-3" lift ?
& the only leaf you'd retain would be the main & fuck those clamps theres better ways to keep that shit together haha but if I run across any Dakars/ All pro's I'll send them your way...
