Since the OP has been lurking for a year, he must have noticed that almost every thread has a mix of helpfuls, harmless jokers, and assholes. Use the first, enjoy the second, ignore the third.

The 4Runner's have diff problems. Both my front and rears were replaced under 20 K--same issue as the recall. BTW, they said it will probably need a 3rd rear diff as they don't know why they are failing. I really like the T4R other than the gear failures.

Agreed...I drove a RL recently. I liked a lot of the features, but could not see myself owning one as it looks like a lifted Accord.

You know, this is the part I don't get--back in th 70s on Cape Cod I had a '73 Jeepster Commando (with a "Buick" V6) I bought used with 50+k miles on it--it ran quite well and I used it for 2 or 3 years for commuting 40 miles a day, and plowing a 750' long driveway along with several neighbors' driveways. In the "blizzard of '78" I tugged 2 or 3 dozen other vehicles out of snowbanks and ditches. I never had any problem with the differentials, leaking or otherwise (the front axle universals were another whole story).

I have also owned numerous other 4WD and RWD vehicles, and leaking differentials--to the point of going dry--was never a major issue or concern.

Nothing about this is rocket science or "bleeding edge" technology; WTF is going on with the 3rd gens? It's almost like some sort of corporate sabotage...

My '09 Taco has 138k on it and the rear pumpkin is dry as a bone. not even a tiny bit of weeping.

My wife does like the ridgeline but that doesn't help the money issue. I may try to private sell the Turd and get something else. I should have kept my 10 year old Nissan with 150,000 miles on it as I had less issues and more trust in it than my new Tacoma which is a very sad state of affairs. I truly believe a used 2nd generation Tacoma would have been the better purchase or a new Frontier. I know I would have saved some money getting into a Frontier. I was just excited about the newer look and technology on the Tacoma but it has been a real letdown.

I would ride it out and trade into a new Taco in 2 years.

Wow OP, you have truck that fits most of, if not all of the 3rd gen issues. When was this poor thing built, where? How has yota been when you contacted them about the vast a,punt of issues you have had? Maybe you will be able to lemon law it and get bailed out of that crappy deal the sales folks must have suckered you into, those bastards.

If you are not able to lemon law, hope it finally runs great after the numerous recalls that the 3rd gen will probably have.
