Well, today I decided to cross over to the dark side and traded my 2017 SR5 DCSB in on a 2017 Chevy Colorado Z71. I didn't want to deal with the recall foolishness, got tired of the schizophrenic tranny and I live 120+ miles from the nearest dealer during the week. Plus, the chevy dealer gave me most of my money back so I thought it a more than fair deal.

So, I wanted to thank everyone for all the help, advice and general hospitality.

I've got a few things to post on the for sale forum soon: Hondo mount, gator bed cover and bed mat. If anyone is near Lexington ky I'll make you a deal you can't pass up.

Take care all and thanks again.

Don't blame you. Trade the 3rd gen before the bottom drops out in value.

Good luck with the new ride. The 2nd gen Colorado/Canyons are 1,000 times better than what they replace. Hope you got the 3.6 v6

Yeah....Don't get it!! Every brand has had recalls every year for how many yrs now? 30+. I understand the frustrations with owners having issues with their 3rd Gen, but the sky is falling attitude has gotten way out of hand. Dealt with the same crap on the Evo forums with Mitsubishi. All the doom and gloom about repeated issues with the Evo 10, and drove mine for 4yrs and 30K miles without one single problem.

    VW for emissions recalls
How many different ones for the Takata airbag stuff?
    Prius for the random accelerating
Chevy just had the recall for ignitions that stick or whatever it was.

Every company has them. I don't get it why people get mad at recalls. Its not costing you anything (excluding time) and you're now getting a new part for free.

A frame recall I could understand trading for... but the diff?... They haven't even decided what the fix is yet. Maybe everyone is gonna get 4.56's ;)
But hey, my opinion is biased.

VW screwed the pooch so bad they are buying back cars. I know some of the owners have made out pretty well with that deal, but still. I am at the age that I miss very much the Toyota truck quality of the 80's- 90's. I owned two of the great little pickups with the 22RE. It is what it is call me a fan boy if you like, but will not buy another brand of truck.

While I agree the QC could improve.. I don't it's fair to compare our trucks to the quality of Toyotas from the 80's.
Vehicles have gotten much more advanced; computers, electronics, gadgets, etc. not to mention the outsourcing of so many different parts.
Back then(ha.. shows how young I am) things were simpler. AKA less to break/ go wrong. Technology is good AND bad.

    Honestly who cares?

I had more issues with all three of my second gens (separately) than all my vehicles in my life combined! I didnt whine or complain.

Anyone who ownes a second gen who thinks/says their truck is issue free or a superior truck is either an idiot or a liar!
    And most cases both!

I have had big issues on my second gens and from reading this site many have had the same.

    Frame
    Differential
    Trans
    Motor
    Brakes
    Noises
    Vibration
    Lights

And I'm sure I missing a bunch more. So get off you high horse.
