lol I was just thinking about how many 2WD trucks I've seen get stuck on wet grass when 1 tire starts spinning. If they had a locker (even without 4WD) they would've been able to get themselves out. :D

why not just save and get an h1, already have 1/4 inch steel plate sliders under the entire rig, not just strategic points...im not sure what about the ""i dont go offraoding " part isn't clear, buti dont go offraoding, i go trail riding, and when i put in my supercharger, prob will see less trails, well maybe not, but i dont plan on building an offraod rig, is this is my primary vehicle until warmer weather when i can get on the bike again....so if i got owned sure, but the sport seems to be winning this poll thus far. enjoy your day, maybe we get together and go wheelin one day, :)

I've used it quite a bit actually, which is why I did the locker anytime mod. :D The locker is usually faster to engage than 4WD when I need a little extra traction.

I think I "offroad" like you do: trail rides. Logging roads, seasonal use highways, fire access roads. Some are "maintained", some wash out pretty bad until the town finally sends a grader down to flatten it back out. Either way, they aren't asphalt or concrete so it's "offroading" to me. :D Not rock crawling or mudding, but it ain't hoppin' curbs at Wal-Mart.

I also used to turn it on to shut off the ABS when the roads were slick before I did the ABS kill switch.

What I typically do is wheel those trails in 2wd, locked so I have more than 1 wheel pulling, but if I bog down or get stuck I still have 4WD to get me out. If you run in 4WD all the time and get stuck it usually means you're getting out to winch, or get help from a buddy.

As for getting ripped off... It was an $800 addon option installed at the factory, warrantied, and just works. Compared to what other selectable locker? The ARB air one that costs around $1500 last I checked, plus installation? And no warranty? I did it as a factory installed, warrantied and financed option. No need to come up with the $1500 or whatever for parts and installation all at once after the fact, or try to install it myself to save money. Factory seemed like a better option. I don't want full time ratcheting locker.

Yes. The locker only locks the rear axle. Unless you have ATRAC I think. Then you can rewire things to get the ATRAC to kick in and simulate a front locker.

    4x4 OFF-ROAD... that is all I need...
If only I lived in NJ or somewhere around there... I would take you to a mud pit at least a foot deep/ 40 feet long/ 15 feet wide... or better yet, take you to the fine sand of Pismo beach. One day you will need a locker and you'll understand what the big deal is all about.

I got stuck in a shallow mud pit on purpose last summer just to see what the big deal is about the locker... my wheels kept spinning and I was going nowhere. I activated the locker and drove out as if I was on dry pavement. I'm glad I have the off-road's locker. My friend in his 2wd off-road did the same thing, but the rear wheels only (obviously)... and got out w/o any problems.

hey man, i know what lockers are and how they work and what they do, my original statement was " what i will do with this truck, a locker is never gonna be needed". plus its a manual, true rock crawling should always be done with an auto, even though manuals are geared lower.

you can create a situation where i would need a locker, but again man, lockers dont do it, also, ther are people who will say 33 arent big enough, get 36's, 3 inches isnt enough get a 6", (thats what she said) if you use your locker its great, to me, it would be a waste and dont need it. all the highway drivin i do, i prefer better seats, and smoother highway handling..

    love you all TW"ers
