    Good Morning
Nice out, and the humidity from yesterday blew out overnight.

Figuring out what time I have to leave here tomorrow morning to get in the woods before light. Have to get out of here by 4:30 for a 40 minute drive. Takes about 10 minutes to get to my spot. Have to spray myself with poison as I heard the ticks are brutal this year. Oh joy.

My mower broke yesterday at moms. Threw a pulley out the side. Going to get under it later.

Yep, turkey. Started Wednesday, but I have the next 2 weeks off from last years vacation that i have to burn up.

When I used to hang around in Stratton, we started seeing a couple ticks in the 90's.
Locals blamed it on the flatlanders from Jersey, NY and Ct. bringing up their tick infested dogs.

I remember shooting deer and bear up there that had zero ticks.
Here in Ct., it's disgusting. Couple hundred ticks crawling around on a deer. Those things just skeeve me out.

I'd see ticks up in Virginia that were huge. Most I've seen here are small size of a paper match head. Hard to spot.

We usually have 2 types here. Dog ticks, which are larger and you can see/feel them. Then those nasty deer ticks.Size of a pinhead and they're everywhere. They're all bad, but deer ticks are real bad as far as Lyme goes.

Lyme killed a co-worker bout 10 years ago.
Lyme was mis-diagnosed and by the time they figured it out, it was too late and it attacked his innards, eventually shutting his body down.

    Damn.
Even the axis have the small ticks now. Didn't really see them years ago. The axis were also more lean back then. Now they have the corn eating fatty gristle when dressing out. I've usually got my kills deboned and on ice within 45 minutes . Deer don't cool down enough to jump. And I spray myself down before skinning.

Bow season opens mid-Sept. here but I don't go out much till we have a hard frost. Knocks the bug level down a bit.
Also, I don't want to whack a deer early as I have to skin and quarter it right away due to the heat and get it on ice. Then take the next day off in order to process it.
I'd rather wait till late season in Nov-Dec. so I can hang it in the shed for a few days, temps permitting.
