    Haha no.

Just left the wedding....slightly intoxicated. Luckily the wedding was right across the street so we just drove the golf cart home!

In other news....I'm obviously not getting notifications of being taged or replied to

In other other news looks like we found a few other t4r owners with the same issue I have going on that points to fuel pressure/faulty fuel pump issue. First codes I got on my previous 4runner were fuel sytem lean codes after a few months of dealing with the same issue. Then head gasket went.

History says running lean can cause head gasket failure so maybe we have caught it early enough? @Blkvoodoo thoughts?

that was discussed on the first 4Runner event, i said it sounded like it was running lean ( by description of codes and events) My thoughts on the final after seeing the plug that was pulled, it leaned out one cylinder enough to burn a valve (which caused the plug to coke) The resulting dead cylinder pushed an already aged and weak head gasket.

check fuel pressure, replace fuel filter, check/repair the corroded wiring to fuel pump, at this point, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the fuel pump as you know its probably original ( Denso fuel pump @ Adavnce $116, less with online coupon) FYI, you can get a whole fuel tank, sending unit and pump in one assembly for $300 from RockAuto, this may be an option if rust is enough of an issue to get yours apart. My only thing is it is not a Denso fuel pump.

compression check isn't a bad idea, it will give you and idea of where it might be. But actually pulling the heads and just doing the job may be your best bet. Sure, you can get any number if replacement engines, but you're still gambling on old worn gaskets and unknown service history (where you're at now) its a 20year old truck that at best you might find a low mileage engine that comes out of an '04 Tacoma IF the newest version is a direct swap. still gonna be a 14yo engine. Reman engines are a gamble as well.

Yours runs but you have no idea what condition its in as you know it isn't the original to the truck, so actual miles and history are unknown

Also, other head gasket failure causes are plugged catalytic converters and collapsed mufflers (one of the problems i had)

i've been looking into doing fuel pump on my own junk as a preventive measure, mine has 225k on it, and my sending unit is FUBAR too, may as well do both while i'm in there.

I had a set of General's on the company truck. I found that they really performed well but they seemed to wear quickly. I got about 45k on them before swapping out.
For the right price I'd buy them again. Sounds like you are reading a lot, and that's a good thing. Most of our wisdom has come from forums like these or school of hard knocks.

Except for @Blkvoodoo who was blessed with wisdom from the oracle on top of Mount Okuhutaka.

WE started to take apart Mel's suspension since her brakes were failing. Turns out nearly every piece of rubber needs to be replaced. Calipers seized, bellows vulcanized, boots crumbling. As a result of red-neck tow on a rope and a scared teenager riding the brakes for 15 miles.

Had to go to Raleigh for rebuild kits, that turned out to be totally wrong.

We are going to Greensboro today to catch Bec's concert (she sings for a gossip group) Autozone in Greensboro claims to have the right parts, otherwise we are back to 2 vehicles next week.

Always something... you keep pitching mod days, and I swear some day I will swing and not miss.
