Its stupid, but I really like the look of these tires. Plus the skinniness would help with highway mpg. Do they make 32's in this width-ish?

    Yes. It's a 17 inch wheel though. 255/75/17 I think

Yeah, there's a ton of 255/75R17's. If you don't really wheel I would go with something P-rated.

It's been awhile since I've checked my gas mileage, so I recorded it last weekend over a split highway/interstate tank. 19 mpg! Color me impressed. 80 mph on the interstate usually hurts my mileage pretty bad, so I'm guessing I'd break 20 on a full 65 mph tank. Not bad for 33's

This is what A full tank at 65 mph does for me.

4 banger, but I agree. Not bad for 33" MTs

how you liking those Maxx's? been running Toyo's for 3 years and love em. I heard rumors that Cooper was releasing this tire in this size. Might stick with the size?

I am coming from ST PROs. I can say this, it is nice to hear my engine again! The Maxx are super quiet and their highway handling characteristics are great. I won't have a chance to truly offroad with them until June. I can't imagine they will out perform the Pros. Best I can hope for is that they hold their own.

I have run them on dirt and in the rain, and they shine in both domains. Rain and my Pros always made me nervous, but the Maxx hold like glue.

5100's. Eibach. ST Maxx 255/85. Bestop. Pro Comp 252.
What's up guys? First post here on TW. I've had my 255/85/16 ST Maxx on for 8k miles so far, love them.

Recently went from the 16" OR wheels with a 1" spacer to Pro Comp 252 16x8 with a 4.25 BS and a 1" spacer (resulting in 3.25 BS).

Truck has 5100 up front set at 0" and Eibach springs. This totals approx 1.6" of lift. Stock rear suspension (TSB Spring). With the old wheels, the truck didn't rub at all, anywhere, at full tuck off road. I put on the new wheels which require a spacer to clear the front calipers (hence me keeping the 1" on). They rubbed the plastic bad. I took the front flares off and trimmed as much as I could out of the fender liner and front bumper. Solved. Now, they're rubbing the body mount. I am going to go to the smallest spacer I can to clear the calipers and hope they clear the body mount. If not, ill probably have to sell the wheels.

Basically, I'm hoping with the smaller spacer in the front, resulting in 16x8 and 4" BS, I can still tuck all around off road with no rubbing. I picked up 1/4" spacers but haven't had the chance to throw them on. Fingers crossed she clears all around. Here's a couple pics of the truck. First is the previous set up.
The last two photos are the rear wheel well, tires tucked up from a curb (trying to show the current clearance of tire vs. flare).

Any insight/experience is much appreciated. Otherwise, hopefully this post can help others.

What size drill bit did you use to drill those holes?

    Everything TW members recommend
It's been awhile since I did his. Just find a drill bit that matches the holes in the spare tire hoist.
Also, make sure you make a template of the spare tire hoist location. The cross-members aren't all the same across the different 2nd gen model years, and you want to make sure you locate the holes correctly.

@recomr did you have to use the 1" spacer for the TRD OR wheels? Or was that just for looks?

How does the truck do on the highway with the 255s? I can't touch 6th gear doing anything above 70 on my 2016 with 285/70/17s. Thinking of getting this skinnier tire to reduce road/wind resistance

It does ok with the 255s on highway. It def hunts for gear a little more than stock when doing long climbs, no question. I can however get to 6th above 70mph and do on a daily basis on lesser grades. Higher grade mountains i'm not hitting 6th at all. Flat highway or rolling hills I can get to 6th with no problem. If I lived in the desert I dont think I would notice anything. I live in the mountains so I notice. I am not using ect. I did do the flash on my trans about 10,000 miles ago. I think the weight would be the biggest difference for better shifting ranges. Compare the weights and see if you can save anything significant, may help.
