Dude, sorry to hear all that crap happen to your diff. Dark horse has been my go to shop around here. Makes me think twice about getting my re-gearing done there in the near future (or maybe now they'll be really good at it). Sub'd for results.

We'll see what happens. I will say they are stepping up to take care of me so far. What money they did charge me initially to diagnose things they've refunded me since discovering the true issue. I'm just hoping we can figure out what is still making noise after rebuilding the diff with new parts.

Just got back from camping. Took a shower. Wow. Soon as the hot water hit me all I could smell was camp fire. Good trip though. Colder than Easter weekend ironically. Seemed very humid.

Anyhow, put about 300 miles on the new rear differential so far. Although "the noise" is still present the truck drives noticeable smoother. Not as much drag when coasting and the "clunk" when I depress the accelerator after coasting is gone. New gears 'feel' like they mesh better I guess. But, since they are breaking in still I'm also driving like an old man. So there's that.

I did notice however, that when I put the truck into 4H the noise either disappears or becomes much less audible. As soon as it goes back into 2H it comes back, and goes away the instant I switch back to 4H. This concerns me a bit as I'm realizing... perhaps I've been having more than one issue and only ever hearing one of them.

Thursday I'll go in for the 500 mile gear oil change and inspection. Dark Horse is going to get the scope out and do some listening. I'll have to mention the 2H vs 4H issue.

    I know, right?

Someone needs to total my Taco first. Can't afford to start all over otherwise... to much money into this thing.

Apparently all you have to do is find a snowy tree.

I mean this might be ill advised for a Montanan but we don't know any better over yonder.

Ruger SR1911 Commander. My first 1911. Got it cheap on a Black Friday deal. Makes me want a nicer one.

Some brass comes out bent. Now and then it doesn't feed into the chamber fully. Not sure if I'm limp wristing or if it needs gunsmithed.

Hmm definitely try a different brand of ammo, as well as letting someone else shoot it for you. I hate trying to diagnose these things.

My Sig P320 is picky as hell and I can only run about 2-3 brands of ammo through it. I also have a friend who has a super nice VP9 that I want to love, but it misfeeds 9/10 times for me. So I had two of the other instructors (including the owner of the gun!) try it out and they both had a range of misfeed issues.... but her husband can shoot it without an issue. Apparently all 3 of us are limp wristing it... pisses me off because I really kind of wanted one.

Also try a Kimber 1911... I've got a Super Carry Ultra so it's small enough to carry, but the slightly larger sizes have a bobtail and they're magical to shoot.
