mine does ok, you can notice the lack of power when towing/hauling anything with weight, but still gets the job done. worst that'll happen is it will shift down.

but for what i would like is at least a prerunner type, not base 4x2, but the extra power, height, and towing capicity would be nice with the 4x4 v6.

as for output in the 2.7L, it does its job. pretty decent mileage and power for a 4 banger. here is a pic with a FULLY loaded bed when i was moving. driving on the highway all day long

ps. im canadian so thats km's

Mine's a 2006 access cab 4-cyl 4-speed automatic SR5 (2wd), only mod is an aFe pro dry filter. Getting 22-24 mpg consistently with 80% highway. (GTiVR6r says he is getting 32mpg, that is *unbelievable*.) I just wish the shift points weren't so low. It lugs a little going up any considerable incline, but once it downshifts and the engine spins up, it does fine. Happy Taco owner here.

    I once got 704 kms on one tank, cruising at 100ish. Awesome for a 4X4. (in my '09 4cyl). I don't think I've broken 500 with my '10.....

My 4 cylinder 2wd AT Access cab's first tank was 26.5 mpg (90% highway), since then, the worst I have gotten was 22.5. (50/50 city/highway) I have about 1100 miles on it now. Plenty of power for around town and highway. I use cruise control a lot on the highway. We don't have any mountains around central texas but there are hills. I notice it starts hunting going up hills if left on CC.

I like the extra space with the access cab. I have had two adults ride back there and they were reasonably comfortable for a short trip. I wouldn't want to ride there for very long but it works for carrying supplies out of the weather and the occasional grand kids.

I have ordered a fold a cover for the bed which hopefully will help the milage a little as well.

I drive a fair amount for work, about 24,000 per year and I wouldn't have any other truck. I have been experimenting with keeping the tach at 2000 or less and will see how this effects the milage. I can drive at about 64 mph at 2000 which works for most instinces. I will post the results the next fill up.

V6 with 265x75R16 BFG ATs I get about 550kms per tank.

what an old revived thread lol

Worth the mpg,... down shift to 4th on hill and it wont slow down, ...not v-8 acceleration and i dont care.... went from a duramax to the 4bang reg cab and i love this lil truck. Test drive one up a hill, its not for everyone, but its a gem.

There is always someone that will claim waaay better mileage than 95% of others. This is called a statistical anomoly. Usually the product of misinformation or strange behaviour.

    hint hint.

8/5/10 I filled up and got 24.3 mpg, it's a 4x4 Access cab 2.7L 5-speed with 86K on the odo. I get 430-450 miles per tank during the Summer here.
If I drove I-5 more than I do I'd have NO problem keeping it at 24-25 during the Summer, it's completely impossible with the winter gas though.

has your fuel economy improved since your first tank full? if so, how long did it take to see a noticeable difference, 1000 miles or so? i have a 2013 2wd PreRunner DC AT (w/o a tonneau), and i got 21 mpg on my first tank while driving 75% on hwy going 65-70....i'm hoping that'll improve after the 1000 mile break-in period.
